how close are the clones by Drip/Hairball/MNats, tho? They're knock off circuits, they should be very, very close Sir Charles. The hairball/mnats 1176's are easypeasy, i made 8 of em, just need to wrap some wiring, and there ready to rock it.

Is it too much to ask? Nah.

And I need a drummer. I am finding drum programming with BFD highly problematic. It's actually show-stopping me right now. Maybe if the distance is too great we can collaborate via the Web. Are you a PT user? If people think you sound like Jason, that is a real compliment, he is a great drummer in his own right. He killed it at the O2 show!

I'm in san diego, i do use PT, my studio is on it's head right now, i'm in the midst of a huge DIY project since april, don't see myself being drum worthy for some time unfortunately. But i would be interested in hearing some stuff, i'm sure i could do something for you? your talking original material? PM me. Just kidding about the jason thing, old jokes, my friends used to tell me "you write songs like Lennon....sean Lennon" but now that's a compliment too, he's good!

I've dreamed of owning an original console pair of 1081's. But I also dream of sending my kids to college so I defer.

Well, if we're getting into guitars... 194X Martin D18/D28 194X Gibson J45 195X Gibson Les Paul Goldtop 196X Gibson 335 196X Fender Jazzmaster 196X Fender Strat I was 13 in 1966 when I got my first Stratocaster. I modified it to stereo and used an amp on each side of the stage. Running one side through a Maestro Fuzz-Tone, I could get a double-lead effect, which was great for playing Hendrix stuff in my three-man band. The actual sound of the guitar itself was terrible, worst I've ever had. Fortunately I kept the original parts, and was able to sell it for a lot of money in 1996. In it's place, at the time, I got an American Stratocaster with the built-in Roland hex pickup, unusual because most of the midi Strats were made in Mexico. The 1996 Strat sounds so much better than the '66, I can't believe it. I think a lot of what we remember about "vintage" guitars is romanticized by faulty memory. Or maybe I just had a lemon.

The same could be said about pro audio...
But I've played a couple vintage strats that were badass...Then again, I've got a Squier Classic Vibe 50's strat that is fantastic...I bought it with the intention of swapping out the pickups. They sound good enough that I haven't pulled the trigger...

I think the difference back then was people built things to be good, so you had more winning pieces show up, now they spitem out, and 1 in 500 squires you get lucky, i've played a few squires that were surprisingly nice, when i stripped the finish off my american strat, it was 5 pieces, and the metal staples were visible lol! still sounded nice though?

I had a Blue Stripe and had it restored beautifully by a real pro. It def had a "thing" but wasn't something I had to have. I actually prefer my rev F for vocals and acgtr. If I cut drums and bass I could see using it more, but alas, I sold it. That's one more off the list :-)
