Would love to come! But you know, every time something is scheduled I just can’t get away at that time!

Thanks to Jesse and the AES chapter for hosting this awesome event!! Jesse, you did such a great job getting the Mixing House built up! Totally vibed out space that seems really inviting. I would love to be able to book your place sometime! Anyway, fascinating to learn the history of the Walburg and Auge drum company and all they have inspired since then. Jeremy has done something really special for the prolonging of the company and history, keeping the torch lit for something so cool. I hope he can get a grant to have a place to put his collections so that people can enjoy it. Amazing to know this was happening in Worcester, MA. But, it seems like MA was the place to be for manufacturing drums in the 40's and 50's! I live a block from the old Zildjian factory! Anyway, The new Walburg and Auge drums sounded amazing. Totally clear notes but great thick thud to them. Kinda different from the usual vintage suspects, when you think about the tone of those old kits from the 30's, 40's and 50's. I loved the bronze snare, it had a nice wooden-like attack but metal-like ring that was perfectly complimented to my ears. Anyway, I am going to figure out how to link the pictures I took. Dereck and Owen had video rolling too, so I am sure they will post it soon. But, I am sure you guys want to know more about the quick shootout we setup. There wasn't much time to get science'y with it, so we quickly decided just to put up the U67 and Jesse's Flea 47 Next as "FOK" mics. about 10 Feet in front of the drums. A little higher up then the Cymbals. We patched them into the console and left EQ flat, gain matched them and muted/unmuted to listen. Totally different vibes altogether. Since it was just a quick thing, [and Jesse's control room is totally new to me] we didn't take too much time. But Im sure all the guys interested where able to hear it! It was certainly informative. I think myself and Jesse decided they were both awesome When I compared them a few times, it seemed like the 67 was super quick and more open then the Flea, but the Flea was more round on the bottom and less "snappy" in the middle. You could hear more of the nuance of the drummer with the 67, while you got more thud from the 47. At any rate. It took me about an hour to get home, at which point I put the 67 into my Merging converter Mic Pre- to listen through my system at 192K and, I stayed up until 1:11 listening to it on my vocals and acoustic guitar. I didn't record much but I recorded a few takes of 1am tired voice. Sounded awesome. I will have more time with this mic soon, but today its headed to a client demo. Where, I am sure it will sound amazing. Great to meet everyone last night! Cheers and Beers!

Still hoping for some comparisons of the new 67 to other 67 style mics, including the IO 67. Of course they're different, but I wouldn't mind hearing some new Neumann 67 shootouts vs. a U47 either.

When I get the Stam 67, maybe we can plan a get together at my place with some of the Greater NY area RGO regulars?

Finished getting the place cleaned up and ready last night. Here's a photo album of where I'm at... imgur.com/a/8TY3XLOVE IT!! And the toilet reminds me of living on base as a kid. All those houses were built the same, must have been a big sale on those tiles in the 1940s
