Dirty little secret from my gear pimp days, on a new product the computer is pulling those estimates out of its digital ass! At Full Conpass we wrote all our own code and sold it to others. The programmers office was right behind my desk and I was one of the guys who tried to work with them on projects so I was privileged to a lot of stuff, plus even though I wasn’t a code writer my computer privlages would let me write code. In order to deal with the foibles of over 500 manufacturers, just in time inventory and stocking levels you need data, well the only sampling of data on a SKU worse than having zero data is having one instance. Now Heritage may have created enough hype about these that enough of us put money down and are making enough calls to our gear pimp of choice that somebody is calling often enough that the procurement dept is calling the distributor who is calling the manufacturer and people are than back dating the approximate date given, because people tell people what they think they want to hear and well all this time spent with this question isn’t generating income let’s all give ourselves some wiggle room so we are not here next week again. Bottom line learned when the folks at Mackie Announced products that were nothing but an idea on paper, it ships when it ships ! You will see it when you see it ! Mackie were great about that, haha I remember. They once had a full-page ad for a hard disk recording system that didn't exist, and they did the same thing with their first digital mixer a few years back. Announce it, then invent it. Product development in Reverse. Haha no wonder they got into all that trouble Chris Remember all those blurbs in the original 8 buss “Magazine “ ? Well everybody was supposed to get a free meter ridge and Automation system for their indorcement, I know of more people than you have fingers still waiting! Or I remember being at an Alesis training in CA when they brought out the ADAT M20 based on the Panasonic pro transport and laughing that we would never see them because the Panasonic decks that used that transport took 6 months to get ! The world has gotten smaller but so much can go wrong in the complicated process of getting stuff from here to there!

good things come to those who wait. after a slight delay due to the snowstorms in the u.k. (where heritage gets its metalwork done), the ha73eqs will begin shipping later this week. Everyone who preordered should see VERY shortly.

yeah - like I couldn't tell you that it sounds ANY different from the two 1073-500 three spacers I've owned. I've also owned several 73jr's and just from memory, this unit sounds LESS bright. (Of course, I have better quality ADDA now.) As for EQ, I used it line in and just played around with vocals. Really impressive and nothing sounds harsh...in fact, I much preferred the 12 kHz shelf on this HW compared to the UAD 1073 plug...I guess that's to be expected, but it literally sounds like two different curves. The tone of the pre is super-balanced - like pretty much a ready to go sound with the right mic.
The ONLY negative I see on it are the knob-resistance. My blue HPF knob is obviously stepped, but the resistance is poor and almost feels variable. Not sure if there's something I can tighten up or what. The face and knobs LOOK gorgeous...and as prideful as that sounds, that was kind of important to me.

NICE John!!! Make sure the knobs aren't rubbing on the faceplate. That can make the steps feel "sluggish" on some units. Sweet looking unit. For the 1073 wars, I think you made the right choice!! <thumbsup>

Thanks I’m still thinking about the AML ez1073, I’ll probably build one and decide if the ease of the pre built is worth the money!
