If Stam's making an EQ, I'll be quite happy to introduce it to my SA73 ;-) I think it’ll be a new pre with EQ integrated.

Love the way is saturates and compresses when you turn up the gain and down the output on the piano.... I have lots of Heritage now, may get some just because they seem very good and man the price !

Sounded nice but that has to be the least in-depth review I've seen in a while. Haha

Just a quick note that I finally have been able to see some real frequency response plot graphs of the Heritage Elite series up against it's closest 'competition', and it was really eye-opening and damn impressive. it is definitely worth while to hang on a little bit longer for the real thing.

Ah, seriously what does that really mean ? Someone compared a freq response graph of a decades old pre with the new heritage clone and this is more important than listening to a unit and deciding whether you liked its clone sound ?

Otherwise it doesn't mean a whole lot. thank you. it wasn't meant to 'mean a whole lot' because its not something that I can really share yet; but it's going to come out soon in due time, and not by me. I just got to see something very cool in advance. I think you know who the competition is and I didn't wish to disparage anyone.

In the end you are right, it is all about the user's judgment and the application. In this case, what I was refering to was the curve of the EQ, HPF, phase shift and other nonlinearities that may have been associated with lesser inductors or other components, or may have been associated with the 2 inductor vs 3 inductor design, etc. Seeing the 'strong' response of an original Neve, a good reproduction, and other reproductions that may or may not fall a little short. Not something I want to get too far into really as its not the time not place yet, but I do think this stuff will come out soon and seeing what I've seen will be better than me explaining it. It will make more sense then.

Well, some people have agendas.... It's pretty obvious at this point.

Well, I think the point that the signal paths and measurements will be affected by the differences in components is valid but as we have invariable said here , measurements are just one perspective but the most important thing is sonics.
Any shoot out of anything always has differences but I don’t know that I ever conclude that there is only one winner as differences can fit one situation and not another or be put to good use.
I personally think there is competition and that all these clones are varying degrees of very good, so pick your poison and have fun with your neve clone. Once it’s in a typical mix those paper differences,I don’t think will be very apparent ?

As much as I put money down on the Heritage EQ wanting the sound of a 1073, I know I am not buying a 1073, what will either make me keep it for flip it is how it stands up on its own and that’s what 99% listen for in shootouts and what makes most comparisons useless other than as a common sonic reference.

Yep, though I keep thinking I should cancel and order one of AML’s EZ1073’s kits instead but that would mean work!

I’m hearing second week of March now from Sweetwater. I’ve already waited this long...what’s another several weeks. Dirty little secret from my gear pimp days, on a new product the computer is pulling those estimates out of its digital ass! At Full Conpass we wrote all our own code and sold it to others. The programmers office was right behind my desk and I was one of the guys who tried to work with them on projects so I was privileged to a lot of stuff, plus even though I wasn’t a code writer my computer privlages would let me write code. In order to deal with the foibles of over 500 manufacturers, just in time inventory and stocking levels you need data, well the only sampling of data on a SKU worse than having zero data is having one instance. Now Heritage may have created enough hype about these that enough of us put money down and are making enough calls to our gear pimp of choice that somebody is calling often enough that the procurement dept is calling the distributor who is calling the manufacturer and people are than back dating the approximate date given, because people tell people what they think they want to hear and well all this time spent with this question isn’t generating income let’s all give ourselves some wiggle room so we are not here next week again. Bottom line learned when the folks at Mackie Announced products that were nothing but an idea on paper, it ships when it ships ! You will see it when you see it !

Mackie were great about that, haha I remember. They once had a full-page ad for a hard disk recording system that didn't exist, and they did the same thing with their first digital mixer a few years back. Announce it, then invent it. Product development in Reverse. Haha no wonder they got into all that trouble

I think this is right though...also hearing that from RAD. Maybe but then I freely admit I’m jaded but I also remember a freighter once loosing 10 of those containers at sea in a storm, one of them was full of AT mics we had on back order for ever, I think a quarter of those mics were bound for us, or the time a truckload of stuff from Mexico was Suddenly evidence because somebody figured mics ? Rock and roll ? Hey what a great place to smuggle Cocaine! Bottom line as much as I’m jonesing if it’s not on the shelf when I order I’ll see it when I see it! Now the workout shorts I ordered because I was told they were in stock in California a month ago are another matter, I guess their is another California in Indonesia!
