While I want to stop short of requiring people to post full names - I don't want a ricin letter in the mail - I think it should be encouraged for people to either post links to their music/job/info in their signatures. It's certainly nice to be surrounded by people that know their shit - but I don't want to limit this board to only professionals - we all had to start somewhere. The thing I DON'T want are trolls. Having everyone post a signature that gives a hint/link as to what they do might help alleviate the troll-dom. Judge not, lest ye be judged. After all, what's wrong of having to think twice about hat you're about to post? Maybe it will generate some accountability...
So, maybe we the flock can gently nudge newbies - and oldies to include bio info in their sigs...

I think that'll do it, Jeff.  Just thinking about this - this is certainly not about everybody whippin' it out to see who has the biggest Johnson, but it seems to add and promote accountability. Hey - even if you're a entry level guy - say who you are and be honest - and I bet people will be much more likely to help. |

I put drummer/gear designer on mine, and i feel like a douche lol!!! i'm working on a drum kit that is pretty different for about 4 years now.

For some years, i diy my own preamp ..tubes and api with the nice ea2622 and 2503 tranny from classicapi ..and some others design. One years ago I decided to build a tube mic...so I decided to work on the classic "u47" schematic but with my mods , the results was very nice sounding mic! So I compare with friends with others mic as ..ak-47..ar51 from tfk and others. It's was a pity to see that's thoses mic from a brand like this sound....poorless accordind to the prices they cost!!!! I imagined people spend 1500$ or more in this ...sh..t! The microphone I build cost ...2.5 less than those!! sincerelly ....I a bit fed up with...those only "MicrophoneLogo" you buy!Tube microphone with GOOD tube inside,good capacitor inside, and others nice components with a nice tranformers as T47 or equivalent...and a great capsules as RK47 from Microphoneparts around a nice schematic will for sure do a great job!! More than others one without ...putting 1500$ or more! an of course this with a great psu not only an chinese...apex or tfk or....etccc but a own design! So I can give my humble experience in this for people who want to do this and more.. There not only vf14,ef14,ef12 tube that's can do the job...and i don't speak about chinese tube... Well it's my first post here...You see i'm not on several forum..I didn't care of.. I just want to be and exchange experience on one forum..I'm sorry cause I didn't really know How to name this post! all the best from France. b2. |

Not really a "bio"...but, I added links to my own work as artist as well as some client mix comparisons I did a while back--that they agreed to allow me to post crossfaded comparisons. I usually put the links there in forums--just never got around to it here. Now, I have. It's a good thing to get some perspective on who gives advice. That's why I've always posted them--it's not promotion for me as artist-it's just so people can listen and assign whatever value to my opinion they feel is personally appropriate. If you listen and think my stuff sounds terrible or just completely different than you would ever want--who cares what I think, you know?
I started doing this after some long term writer/reviewers from some well known recording mags posted their work...and I finally understood why I never agreed with their reviews! They do SUCH different music with completely different instrumentation and overall ethos...of COURSE we would have different opinions on gear.
Anyway--thanks for the reminder that I'd not done it here.

Unrelated. Your tunes sound good pop. You don't need the validation though, I'm sure. What did you do on your personal songs? Performing, engineering, mixing, etc?
Just figure there are a bunch of new people around so it's worthy of a bump.

Thx. I had a lot of help with sort of...."auxiliary" stuff. But, I think of the few on Soundcloud--the horn section isn't me...and the drums-not me. But, on the album they're from, I've got friends playing sax solos and some pedal steel and some harmonies (and drums throughout)...god...I feel like I'm leaving someone out...but, I find the less me I can get the better. Engineering is all me except the drums...and I guess Painter did the horns on that one tune himself at his place--that's actually one guy. Playing the whole section. I think there are 14 horns. It was overkill, but I was so "wow" about one guy laying a 14 horn section so tightly, I was like--I'm GONNA get'em in the mix...bless Nashville for that...call...people come...I can go out in my backyard any given afternoon and here drums or amps in the distance from someone's house... Yeah, it's a good principle (re:sig). I like to do it for point of reference. |

Just seeing this thread for the first time. After yesterday's drama and reality show bs I like this idea.
