We moved last month, so I'm rethinking my new studio setup. My Chandler TG2 / TG Opto Comps / TG12345 EQs had previously been spread out among different racks, but I'm testing the idea of placing them in the built-in rackspace in my desk this time around. Knowing how I work (and how ergonomics alone will impact my processes), I'm thinking this could be more creatively inspiring.

Chad nice rack! -Adam Thanks, Adam! :-) (Live long and prosper) Waiting on new acoustic panels to arrive from GIK, and then a ton of cabling to do as well (maybe some splashing of paint as well). Probably a month out (at LEAST) from being back to music. Chad

I didn't see much sonic feedback on these so figured I'd share my experience. Got the TG Opto about 2 years ago. I was kind of hoping for mini TG1, but it definitely has it's own grab going. The harmonics/tone from the output feel a bit more subtle too, but some of the TG1 harmonic excitement may just be missing without the diode bridge. No idea if they share the same makeup gain amp.
With fully variable attack and release control it also took me a while to appreciate the range and find goto starting points for various instruments. The soft knee mode is really verstile and works on almost anything. This was a sweet surprise since I mostly got it intending to slam drums or vocals in Sharp knee mode. It does this very well too and at fastest attack/release has a quickness and brutality I haven't heard from other optos.
Standout applications for me: bass, vocals, mono drum room or overhead
