I think I'm going to DIY a Sontec... pultec someday. I love the pultec plugins on bass and vocals. Have not tried on mix buss! These can rule on buss as well. But if your not careful you end up with a huge smiley faced curve on you mix.

Focusrite Red 2 and focusrite Red 3.

How about two of those Pro Replica Pultecs?

I wonder how many engineers actually use Pultecs on a buss mix. You usually see them in pairs in some big studios. Of Coarse that's more for tracking I'm guessing but I've yet to hear anything go through a Pultec that didn't sound better on the other end. Wouldn't this be true for a buss mix in most cases as well?

I know a lot of people are using the Retro 2a3 on the 2 buss. I've only had a single Pultec at the studios that I've been at. Yesterday I watched a YouTube vid of a drip Pultec. They ran a bunch of sources including a mono mix through and it sounded like butter. I'll dig it back up.

I wouldn't be surprised, at all, in fact I'm aiming at a stereo pultec this year, so I can try.
I've used the plugins on my last two mixes. They don't have that real tube gloss or whatever, but the shelves are nice for subs and air, just from a functional point of view.

Hardware Sontec. I have it but find myself rarely using it, even though it's amazing. Is yours a real one or is it one of Igor's off of GroupDIY. I have one of them. It is really nice. But I feel I kind of need to set it up before the mix or really early on, then mix into it. Other wise I end up just screwing the mix up. Sorry, I just now saw this. It's my own clone. I typically have it inserted but everything turned flat unless I need to fix something.

I have an Oram Hi-def35 on my 2buss, which I think does a very nice job. Hopefully there isn't as much hate here for Mr Oram as there is elsewhere on the web:) I have a Oram Series 8 channel console that I Love. Bought and shipped to the states for $2550. Took 1 1/2 weeks to get board. Eqs are worth that alone. The board is ultra quiet, great headroom, big console features for small change.

I've had a lot of Oram gear over the years, and currently still have a Sonicomp2 along with the Hi-def35. I think the Oram line is well built, functional and very under-rated.

I've seen a number of build quality threads pop up on other sites about the Lindell stuff breaking down. Then they seem to disappear. It's happened three times that I have seen. So, I'm staying away from the Lindell stuff.

I see the Lindell stuff second hand all the time...haven't heard good things about them. Plus, he's a manufacturer that's a moderator on Gearslutz, so how about we not advertise him here?

Well, John, it's your board and you can decide whom you will let advertise here. If there is gear where there is e.g. problems in quality that is to be advertised or dubious behaviour of business owners on audio forums...well, veto it. Sure, why not?

Anyone using a pair of Square State Solid State Model One Bs? I've had my eye on those since I read the Tape Op review quite some time ago.
