Does this mean that I'm off your Christmas list? You have been branded Ouch! I'll salve it (is it a capital "B" maybe, standing for "Burl"?) with the buttery smooth sounds soon to be emanating from my new STA. It's the only thing I can do...

All kidding aside, I've been mixing some tracks on a new tune I built here at home and I've been really happy with the results just using plugs...Yesterday I was CONVINCED I had to have a Sta-Level for a vocal to ever sound good again...Today, my lust has subsided a bit...I've emailed two guys selling Sta's and neither has replied...maybe the universe is trying to tell me something.

Who is a reputable dealer for NOS tubes? Brent Jesse is who I buy mine from. Google him. He makes trips to Europe often and brings back a shit load.

John, I'm curious about the plug(s) that brought you at least a state of happiness, if not Sta-Level heaven?

The UAD LA2A silver with the emphasis knob pulled back a little. Lets the bottom run through a little so it doesn't sound so grabby, then handles the top end nicely...

Hi Guy's going to revive this thread. Has anyone compared the Drip STA to the retro I have ordered the board from drip new batch in around 30/45 days and I am starting to assemble the parts. Does anyone have experience with both? Cheers

I don't mind paying for the pcb and the rest of the effort they have put in (parts list and documentation) plus it will make the build look great inside the case. ericn when you have finished it would be interesting to shoot it out with the retro version. The sta has so much love here I had to have one

Toying with the Idea of the variable release and puting the input and output pads out front as well via some connectors on the back and a custom single space panel !
