Hi Jon, it might be a better idea to form some opinions after you use the products in question. The tube gear we modeled is quite colorful, and it seems my descriptions of each module match what most people have said after using them. As for the 'relentless metal droning', that genre might not be your taste just as someone who loves metal might not be ecstatic about your musical tastes, and that's what keeps this industry interesting! Cheers, Steven Steven, Why did you not use your VTM on the individual channels on these mixes?

I think I'm gonna get the everything bundle for my new PT 12 rig. Seems a no brainer. I'm primarily using waves but at this price? And you get every single new plug in they make for no additional cost? I don't much care about tube modeling or really any kind of modeling...sacrilidge, I know, but I'm more "if it sounds good it is good" .
I'm willing to support the pricing model even if I only get a couple great plugs out of it.

It's well worth the monthly price there's definitely a sweet spot with that and this hits it.

Especially since I'm about to ditch rtas all together I can install ONLY these and make a record while I'm figuring out how to update all my old sh*t. Even still, compared to the $$ for the all in waves bundle? Ridiculous. stevenslate I salute you.

stevenslate are you guys finding that your plug ins are reporting accurate delay times to pro tools for delay compensation?

I've always said anyone who doesn't have an extensive plugin collection should definitely subscribe to the everything bundle. There's just no way you can lose on it, best deal for new people. I've been playing around with the HG-2 demo and found a good spot for it after the Nomad Pulsetec and before Seventh Heaven and the L2. Was able to get results I liked, but not quite as much with Radiator and SDRR rotated into the same spot. Decaptitator still sounds a bit harsh to me. I'll be going through my other tube and preamp stuff to see what can contend. On some tracks I was able to use the HG-2 to get results far better than I had before. It beats the LSR Warmultipress for me. That makes me think this Slate virtual tube collection might be something I try out shortly.

Bought it. After playing around for a few it's less stuff than I thought. Once again I didn't read through ALL the literature. Nowhere near as comprehensive as some of the other everything bundles out there. BUT All I'm really missing is a gate and I could mix a record with these. In fact I'm gonna try. See how it goes. You listening stevenslate ? We need a Steven GATE

I tried this collection on one track so far, just the vocal bus and master fader. It's definitely of comparable quality to the top tube and sat plugs like Wave Arts Tube Sat, Radiator, SDRR, and Nomad's BBE. I'll test it and the HG-2 some more tomorrow.

It's well worth the monthly price there's definitely a sweet spot with that and this hits it. Thats the point.... They have a sound which is not like with other plug ins. I love the idea of the VTM becaue all plugs in one window are easier and faster, and more intuitive, to use vs. clicking around. BTW the feature is a standard in reaper. I love VTM and VCC ... Some of the Slate plugs have a bit of that 3 d effect we know from real gear. I like the tube collection idea - they could have more of this 3d nes. Tone wise I can see using them on single sources on the mixbus they tend to make the mix narrower compared to real tube gear. Yes the everything bundle at 14,99 is a no brainer. Its win win for both sides of the deal.

Its win win for both sides of the deal. +1 As long as Steven adds components, in effect keeping up with the inflationary nature of the business, I'll keep re-upping. The one thing I'm concerned about is that if I ever drop the plan, I'm screwed if I want to go back to a project. It's a fair amount of work to print copies all of the individual tracks - Though I suppose I could just freeze them and print on an as needed basis if it ever becomes necessary. Doesn't this bother/worry any of you guys? Quick question - I chop and automate and fade a lot. I can see where using a gate could save time but are there any sonic advantages?

Okay, so I bought in to this bundle. The thing that immediately got me all revved up is the bricasti stuff in the verbsuite thingy.
Maaaaaannnnn....I know this thread is about the tube emulators but WHAT?!? I gotta shell out for a bricasti now?
Anyone try these yet? Jeez...it's good. I like Tverb but in 5 min I felt like these bricasti emus are CRUSHING.
You try these out bricasti guys?

You could also just pay for one month down the road if you were no longer a subscriber but needed to revisit a project. Edit: although I will say that 2 or 3 of Slate's plugs have had issues with keeping settings. VCC and Trigger and maybe something else. It's fixed now (for my rig anyway) but it was a nightmare for a long time when you'd open something up and all your VCC or Trigger were zero'd out. I'm not saying that will happen with current VMR stuff. It never has for me since VMR came out. Trigger was the most recent thing to have that issue and that seems fixed. Just something to think about if you're relying on being able to get back to where you were.

Didn't end up mixing in that room so didn't really get to mess with it. These impressed me immediately.

Yes the verbsuite is not bad, if you like this you will love that one.... www.liquidsonics.com/software/seventh-heaven/Or you just buy the real deal the king of the road. Listen to the on off soundfiles which I posted in the 7th H thread, or just download the demo I love this plug in to dearh because the Studio A thing sounds like a real tracking room.... you can do a whole mix with a single instance 7th heaven and one or two delays, you will get crazy good depth and dimesion, glue.... very tasty thing if you deal a lot with real instrumentation.

In his video, Steven seems to go out of his way to NOT mention any models, though it does seem like specific models have been emulated. It really doesn't matter to me - What matters is if I like 'em so a basic idea of what they might sound like is all I need to know which one I try first. Here's my take:
London: old tubes Hollywood: newer tubes New York: solid state

hey folks, which circuits is this Virtual Tube system emulating? Good question. I've heard a lot of strange answers too. Many say they are emulating Neve, API, and SSL consoles, while adding a tube satuaration to it. Which is bizarr as these are all transformer based not valve based. I've never heard anything conclusive. I'd love the details if anyone knows.

This video...I just can't. The metal. Even as far as metal goes.... the Slate forums said it was terrible as well. Really dig the VTC units though!

I use them as my go to drum room verbs and a lot of vocals... both backing and lead depending on the genre.
