Looks like I will be picking up a short loaded 36 channel Delta with 24 channels of the 4 band eq strips.
Now how to sneak it past the wife!

Easy, just buy something she wants first. kcat just modded a Delta, you should chat with him, he's pretty deep into it.

I have custom upgrade chips I made for them that rule. I modded 12 channels for a buddy and modded my little delta as a sidecar to my Neve. Seriously some of the best bang for the buck out there. Even the pres can sound really good after mods. I also have a 24 channel Delta that I grabbed locally for 200 bucks with the good channel strips. I will probably fully mod that at some point. But that will be down the road.

Here's a Soundcraft Delta modded by Jim Williams for $2,600 plus shipping. Unfortunately, it looks like somebody dropped it-at least a few times- particularly the power supply. For people that own the Delta: Do you return the Aux's to another mixer and sum back to two channels on the Delta?

That is a remote console, probably used for film/tv work. It's all customized for those purposes, like running on battery.

I enjoyed reading this thread. Some great stuff.
I've only had the pleasure of working on an SSL Duality and a 24ch Neotek elam for a bit.
I REALLY loved the Duality. I know its not the sweetest sounding desk or even a good vibe. But man I enjoyed mixing with it in a hybrid fashion doing edits in PT and some automation. bring it out to the desk and using the EQ and bussing to reverb/effects and outboard inserts. Plus my god that buss compressor. When used correctly, really was glue! Didn't like the mic pres at all.
Sadly the neotek desk was in a crippled room with no I/O so never got to do much besides basic tracking on it. Wish I could have done some mixing with it.
I've always thought the Audient ASP4816 looked interesting. To bad they don't pop up used much.
Im going the 500 serise route to build my own sort of console/summing mixer. Will see how it plays out!

I saw 2 Audient on gs last year in the states around 5 grand. That too me seems like a great deal personally. Granted the cabling would suck as it uses a lot of 1/4'' TRS jacks by the looks of it instead of DB25. But still a very powerful desk for the size. I still think the best hybrid setup is artist series controllers and some nice summing. Pretty much my plan but with better useage of the analog summing using Jeffs ML2s and using TAC 500 racks with insert points to route outboard gear with. Then to Jeffs summing box to print stereo. Should be nice. I use an s6 everyday but it is just a big controller. Its nice it works on multiple systems though.

I’m running a 16/4/2 delta to my patchbay normalled, using logic I/o plug in and faderport 16 for motorized faders automation etc.
So far so good.

I’m curious if anyone has anyone has used the Audient ASP4816. That looks like a nice, fairly affordable console. The big brother ASP8024-HE looks really nice to and can be configured up to 48 inputs with optional DAW control for still less than the usual suspect consoles. From what I gather the Audient stuff is pretty transparent, which might make for a good mix console if you are using colored preamps to record with.

You can’t go wrong with the Audient, but if it had to be knew I would look at the Calrec live1 and any of the APB Dynasonics. For the $ and because of scaleability I would still look at a used Soundcraft Delta / Venue modded by JW.

That hasn't even been turned on in at least 15 years sold as is : hmm Well some of these are always gonna be fixer uppers. You're not gonna find a Neotek in tip top shape for that price though. It seems like it could be a pretty neat little console for someone looking for something with a small footprint, provided they were willing to put the effort in to fix it up.

Ya, that is certainly fair. It seems to power up etc. ? It probably needs a recap at least. But after that, who knows? It could end up not requiring much else. I'm no Neotek expert though. They just seem like pretty cool consoles and I've always heard good things.

A few months ago, I worked on a DDA console. I liked the sound a lot. Then I read today that the designers of DDA went on to be the designers of Audient! If the Audient sounds anything like the DDA board did, I'm more interested now. I get that the consensus is Audient preamps are plainer with less color than some other brands, but that DDA had some real muscle, so I hope I get to try an Audient board one day and compare.
