i ache to make music almost all of the time, but I really don't enjoy doing everything by myself.
been trying some writing collabs via songwriterlink.com, but nothing has panned out just yet.
my biggest weakness is that i refuse to spend the necessary time to improve my lyrical craft. I'd much rather compose with instrumentation even though all the music I listen too is written by amazing lyricists.
does anyone know other places that one can look for collaborations?

There is a site called Songbay. Although they say money changes hands I think there is a a lot of mutual work being done? If you're really desperate I like playing with lyrics.

How does Songbay (the site itself) make money? Anyone know? It's a subscription service, it starts about $2.50 (£2) per month if you want to upload anything. You can join free I think, and browse the lyrics / songs. You can also contact people there via mail. Never used it but I did join ages ago.

Hmmm. Thoughts for this site. Have your services available as a sticky man! Post your collab s and split rates etc... obviously you have a sliding scale for budget purposes... you know what I'm saying... Or maybe have a contest, sponsor with small prize ( prize could be a 1 on 1 with you to learn better songwriting ) make it interactive. Don't know if you are on social media but I offer my clients/ followers discounts based on how active they are retweeting and reposting liking my pages etc. So say a follower wants a mix, I tell him the price as well as say tweet my links, get me x amount of active followers who like posts and repost/ share and I offer a sliding scale discount from 5-25% This helps alleviate the " dam you too expensive " I also try bulk deals as well, and recently have been offering a BOGO just to add to my portfolio and credits.. You have credits and are established, maybe offer songwriting classes via Skype? I know u are busy and a real Pro with real hits and by no means trying to tell you what to do, I'm just tryna help brainstorm. Let's talk about your singing, and how this can be used to generate income. Again, special song writing contest 1st prize could be a guest vocal or chorus sung by you, Likewise, how you develop the feel of what to write or sing. You could also do the tutor thing with singing because you are an amazing singer! Hope the ideas help!

A good training is to take a poem and to write a song based on the lyrics. Or take lyrics you like but change the music and melody. Read poems before you fall to sleep.. Or watch TV and keep an ear on the film music and the emotion that it moves inside you. Emotions help to write lyrics... Just a few hints I give my students...

Both artistic and commercial. Not looking to release albums or tour. Just writing and recording songs because it's what motivates me. If I were able to complete and sell some, that would be grand.
