Thanks Brad!! Your stuff rocks. Looking forward to putting these through their paces more. Unfortunately, in a rare occurrence, the Purple Sweet Ten that housed my Chromas and Stage II’s died today, ugh.... so it may be a while until I get it all sorted. It’s a relatively new Sweet Ten and I’ve never had an issue with it before. So hopefully I can get it all sorted as I’m in the middle of some high profile work they I wanna use the Chromas & MF’s on. For the time being I’ll slip one Chroma and MF into my lower rack so I can at least use one channel One is better than none!! Hope that Sweet10 works out quickly. hah!! True that. One is definitely better than none!!! I’ll get the Sweet 10 sorted out. I have a couple of them and they’ve been flawless to this point. Andrew has always given great customer service. Hopefully I’ll get this pair back up ASAP. Loving the Chroma/MF combo

"Smash" is a compressor made by Brad Aversion.. Brad has a mod he does to them. I have been absolutely floored with that combo. So much so that I cannot live without it. I've got a rootsy, southern blues, vintage sounding album that I'm in the middle of with stomps / claps / washboard instead of drums, and it's invaluable in getting "that" sound. Sounds like I pulled the rhythm off a 1950's record. KILLER!! With the Mass Drivr API line card on the backside and the focus (tilt) EQ, it's vintage stomp / clap heaven. I want to find out more about this, I’m getting ready to do something really nasty and naughty to my audio in a good way! I’m calling you this week Brad.

Mr. Focus host with Smash in the first slot - with drive and mix - and a Mass Drivr (API) line card in the 2nd slot. I've got well over 30 channels of compress and this thing kills everything else for drum smashing. Really great.

I was thinking(here we go) if I get two RBlues and two Mass Drivers that would be some sick tracking and bussing!

I've used the Royal Blues in a lot of different applications, but for this one, only the Mass Drivr following the Smash compressors. I suppose I should try them, but I always end up giggling for a couple of minutes, them getting back to work. BTW, the Focus (tilt) EQ being switchable pre/post compressor is killer too. Just so easy. Like the easy button....

Is the A and N option the same as what you get with Royal Blue and Mass Driver?

Is the A and N option the same as what you get with Royal Blue and Mass Driver? The A and N Mojo Amps used in the Silver Bullet and Chroma designs are entirely different circuits than what's in Mass Drivr and Royal Blue. They are all slightly different flavors. Brad

Brad So what would one be listening for to feel they are getting the desired sound? You say they are different, but you are getting the sound of the beloved equipment in both cases? Just trying to hone in on what it is you're selling for each thing.

Got my pair of Smash compressors in yesterday. I only have one Mass Driver at the moment so one went with that and I paired the other with a Royal Blue (keeping the lift engaged). If ever a compressor was properly named it's this one. First thing was to try it on a snare just turning knobs while drummer played an old Supraphonic dampened with a Big Fat Snare pad and mic'd with an 84. I ended up using much less drive and wet signal than I imagined I would but when I got it dialed in what a sound! Later pulled up a song from earlier in the week so I could dig deeper. Was able to replace the UAD API channel with the Smash Mass Driver and adding some tilt to approximate the eq I had, just what I wanted for the song. Also really nailed down the bass with some great grit. I have a release time in the ballpark of what's feeling good, on the faster side, but ordered one of those DIYRE extenders so I can try more things without having my hand in an open spot turning the knob, I have a feeling once I get one set it'll likely stay there. I also like the way driving the tilt into it changed things. Thanks Brad and Dr. Bill for bringing attention to such a fun compressor.

Cool!! Pretty fun stuff, eh?? Yeah, really fun compressor! I'm finding that I enjoy having no meters to look at and the sound is just so addictive. Going to have to try out some other color slot compressors now.

Yeah, there's no doubt that it makes you use your ears, and a lot of times, you end up going a lot more aggressive than if you were watching meters. Like I said, fun stuff!!!
