I haven't decided if I'm going to take advantage of this. I already own VTM, VBC, FGX, VMR, and VCC. I also have Soundtoys, Fabfilter, Eiosis, the Exponential Audio reverbs, and various others. I'm just not sure there's anything else in the Slate stuff that would be advantageous to own.

So I don't understand - I thought if you subscribe, you get everything Slate makes (on a yearly, monthly, whatever), so a subscriber is not a 'loyal' customer, right? So exactly who is eligible.. anyone how owns at least one Slate plug? Is this an outright purchase deal? Does it include lifetime upgrades?

So it's basically a 17% discount off the yearly subscription rate that first-timers pay. (in perpetuity one would assume).

I think the way it works is if you own a Slate plug and are NOT a subscriber, you get this deal.

I think it probable that they have searched their database and cross referenced who has bought in the past and who had not subscribed. I got the email twice as I have used different emails to purchase slate products. I also own Relab and Soundtoys and a bunch of UA plugs just don't think slate plugs , some of which I have are going to bring much to the party. For $300 usd, I could get the subscription twice to get the plug ins but don't really need them. Rather buy some Warm Audio 87s, the 412 and or a new HW stereo comp

Did not get that e mail and I am a long time user of one of his drum libraries... I think this is for owners of plugs included in the bundle. The drum stuff is from a different company (Steven Slate Drums vs. Slate Digital).

I own about 4 or 5 slate plugs and didn't receive the offer. Sounds like it's probably because you're already on the subscription.

We'll see what they say.

So it's basically a 17% discount off the yearly subscription rate that first-timers pay. (in perpetuity one would assume). The way I read it, it's a one-time discount off the yearly subscription plus a permanent license for one plug. After the year is up, if you wish to continue the subscription, it would be at the regular rate. I hope I'm wrong. If it was in perpetuity, I would probably take the deal.

LesC I think that is exactly it so for those who have bought plugs the discount is nice but its just one year, always afterwards you would be paying full sub pop for a package including plugs you already bought, so in effect ,you are paying twice for ever: my pet beef !! a one time discount just doesn't make sense to me or I don't find it compelling. I already have so many plugs I don't use , buying more is tough sell for every supplier, not just slate. If I was starting over, I would probably buy, maybe 10 plugs and then all outboard: famous last words !

Having spent hundreds on Slate plugins, a loyalty reward of $30 just doesn't cut it, even with a "free" plugin license. If I was missing a Slate plugin that I felt would be really useful, I might think more seriously about it.

Is the Repeater delay worth $149, especially compared to Echoboy? That's about the only thing I'd grab to tempt me. Otherwise, I'm firmly in the "do I really need more plugs?" camp.

I doubt it in terms of features but I guess it would come down to if you think the new engine just sounds better than Soundtoys: which is probably a bit of a stretch. For me too $150 ish usd is kind of pricey with Christmas coming up, I think last year I got the complete soundtoys 5 upgrade for like 110 or something like that ? Like I said , I am a tough sell , I love the new ua api2500 and zener but $600 usd is over $800 cdn on 2 plugs ? a month before Christmas when I need to shop for the kids not going to happen here

Great way of looking at this deal, which it absolutely is.. Actually, that's exactly how Slate asked us to think. From the email: For those loyal customers that bought every Slate Digital plugin before the subscription came out, it really doesn't seem like such a deal. I spent $821 on plugs and I get to save $30 on a 1-year subscription, plus I get a permanent license for a plugin I don't need. I would have preferred something like a 50% credit for pre-subscription purchases, usable towards subscription fees.

I looked at it like jcoutu1I hadn't found a delay yet, that really made my socks go up and down, over stock delays in Logic. When I heard repeater, I knew I would buy it. Then the next day I got the email, I own Trigger, and expansion packs, VCC VTM. For 149, I thought I would grab it. and I put a note in my diary for 51 weeks from now to cancel the subscription... when that time comes around I will see how I feel. I rarely buy plug ins nowadays, but repeater just hit the spot for me. cheers Wiz
