Hi guys, I tried a Logic User group, and didn't get a single response, so my last resort is here. I tried Apple, and their Logic Pro didn't know. He suggested a long and complicated process to reset everything, ugh.. When I go to bounce, the loop function is turning on automatically. I can't bounce anything this way, because the bounce doesn't end where it should, it goes for 2-3 times longer. Attachments:

I'm not at home with my computer and won't be until this evening, but can't you disable the loop button in preferences - take it off the bar, etc..

I have had that happen too.
Are you sure there is nothing in the session that is running out pass the orange timeline ? Any hidden tracks ?
Have you flattened and merged all tracks you did multiple takes of .

Do you have the loop parameter checked on your MIDI tracks? If so, uncheck the box. That should do it.

Thanks 79sg. I'm not sure I know where the "loop parameter" on my midi tracks is.
I use midi rarely, with the exception of Superior Drummer and percussion. I went to the "customize tool bar", and clicked "cycle" off, but when I went to bounce, the loop still turns on.

Martin:
I'm not in front of my studio computer at the moment but open the session in Logic that you had the issue with, highlight each midi / software instrument track one at a time, look towards the top left of the screen for every time you highlight a different track, it will say "Region...", the loop button should be the 2nd one down, make sure it is unchecked on each of those tracks, press command + s to save the changes then bounce the session again and see if the problem goes away. Hope this helps.

Thanks 79g. I checked around one track, and I did see Loop checked on some midi percussion tracks I'd looped. I bounced in palace as an audio file, checked that every track didn't have Loop clicked on, went to bounce, and the damn loop function turned on again.
Ugh..
* I just opened a completely different track, one that's finished, one I never have had an issue with. I tried to bounce as a test, and the Loop turned itself on again. So, this must be something global in my Logic settings, because it's happening on all my tracks when I bounce.
aarrgghh..

Have you tried bouncing with a new project? Just toss a couple stems in there..

Martin it sounds like you have automated the loop function ?
Are you using any automation in this session ?
In Logic you can turn automation on and off globally, also for a track and or open up the track automation and automate everything that is loaded on the track.

Thanks for staying with me kcat. The problem is happening on other tracks too. Tracks I've successfully bounced previously now Loop if I try to bounce. I opened a few old tracks to test.
I joined a forum called Logic Pro Help. The guy behind it literally wrote the book for Apple to teach and certify Logic Pros. His suggestion didn't work. He said try to uncheck Loop in the Inspector. I've never needed to do that before, but I did, and it didn't change anything. I even tried bouncing a track with no midi tracks at all, same thing.
It's happening on every track I've ever done, so it can't be just something I did on one track.

Have you turned automation globally off for the whole session just to check ?

The thing is, it's not happening on one particular project, it's happening on every song I've ever recorded using Logic. This leads me to think I did something to a global setting by accident. It can't be that I now need to click off midi on every track I've ever done to bounce, when I've done it since Logic X came out without any issues when bouncing.

well check your global settings then under preferences and or download and reinstall a fresh copy of logic, maybe you have corrupted something accidentally ? ?

What if you open a new session, import all of the tracks from another session that has the loop issue during bouncing, bounce all of your midi / software instrument tracks in place (becomes an audio track), then delete all of the midi / software tracks from the session, save, then bounce when you only have audio tracks remaining in the session and see what happens. It may help determine if you have an issue with a global midi preference.

Outside now. I only realized a minute ago that my problem isn't technically a Loop issue, it's a Cycling issue. Every song I have is automatically Cycling when I go to bounce. Maybe that will help me figure this out.

Maybe that will help me figure this out. That's what I was thinking you were probably talking about. From the original picture you posted, it didn't seem to have anything to do with midi. Are you using a controller of any sort? Exactly what do you select after you select bounce? "Selected Region," etc.

support.apple.com/kb/PH13039?locale=en_USsupport.apple.com/kb/PH13233?locale=en_USThe key command/ shortcut for looping region/ folders on / off is L. www.logicprohelp.com/forum/download/file.php?id=15479Excerpt From "11 Essential Logic Pro X Shortcuts for Producers" "#5 - Easily Cycle/Loop a Specific Area (Command-U) So you’re working on an area of your track and you need to loop a specific bar range for playback. You can use the mouse to swipe up and across the top ruler, but if there’s plenty of regions in the workspace, it can be difficult to “eye” the area you’re attempting to loop. First select the regions you intend to loop around, then use Command-U. This command comes in handy very often while producing, editing, or recording. Using Command-U after selecting regions will set the cycle area to the exact width of the selected regions. Keep in mind Cycle Mode must be enabled for this (C). #9 - Repeat Entire Sections (Control-Command - R) Control-Command-R is great for adding length to your songs. You can easily repeat a section, then remove regions to start sequencing/arranging. Create builds by working backward from a drop/peak section. Create a cycle/loop around the area you want to repeat first, then use this great command." All I got for now hope this helps... I would look at your bounce settings and advanced settings menu and click on each category to manually enable/ disable what you do/ don't need...

You can use the cycle selection to set the length of the bounce. Another option is to use the Start and End options in the Bounce menu. Hope that helps?

NoFilterChuck, you got it! Chase, thanks for all the helpful info. I'm on the run, so I'll read it all more carefully when I get back home. There's a dialog box when you bounce, and somehow, the 2nd Cycle choice was checked. How, I have no idea, because it was showing up on all my songs, not just the one. if you guys ever need some serious Logic advice, take a look here, they got the answer to me just before I came here to see NFC's post. Thanks M57, 79sg, kcat, and you too explorer, welcome to the forum. www.logicprohelp.com

That's funny because I literally searched for the logic Pro X bounce option menu or bounce dialogue menu and could not pull up images or just a link to that info, everything was convoluted! I knew that's where the answer lived in even though I don't use logic Pro X I'm glad everything got fixed for you man have a great day recording!

Now, all I need to figure out is how to get enough money together to get a better computer, and figure out what I can sell to get in on the new UAD offer of a free satellite with a new Apollo ;-)
