Because John will always be selling something that he will regret later and then moan and groan about it over and over again, I feel it is our duty to intervene.
This time it is his beloved KM84.
NO, JOHN, Don't Sell the KM84!!!

Yeah, and if I remember from the demos he's posted, the one he has is a particularly good example.

Don't sell it......unless you're buying a KM86 or KM54. Even then I'd suggest keeping it.....

I have my reasons but I'm fine if it doesn't sell.

Oh hell, I'll just say it. In my opinion, I didn't hear much of a discernible difference between the KM 84 and the gefell. Go back and listen to those files. The good Phil is slightly brighter, but I often add top-end to my acoustics when using the KM 84. Now this could be one of those things that when you get down to using the gefell every day, it doesn't cut the mustard. But so far I haven't found that to be the case.

I had a chance to buy a one-owner KM84 a year ago for $1K. I was too stupid to do it. Don't sell, John!

I live in New England so I can't help - but I know a lot of you live in the Nashville area. ^^Clearly there needs to be an intervention.^^

Is your Gefell the M300? Love mine, sounds brilliant on Martin Dreads. Punchy with lots of harmonics and sheen. How's it on the Gibson? Took away the 84 fever for me.

Funny - I've sold damn dearly every mic save for my two 84's and a Gefell (I have a UMT 70S). Can't argue with keeping the Gefell, but man do I love the 84's. I suspect I would sell my U48 before selling those.
On the plus side, they are out there, and you can grab one again if needed. The money will hurt, but I think of that as an indecision tax. I think we have all paid it at some time.

Where is this 84 for sale at I did not see it in the classified ... I didn't put it on here because I priced it a little high...kind of an incentive to me to sell it if someone wants to pay it. Also, didn't want to put on here because I knew I would get grief...that worked out well.

Damnit...think I should sell the J-45TV? It's a GORGEOUS guitar. Sounds great - not as good as the D-28A though.

Took me about a year to find three mint KM84's... KM85's actually but I bought two brand new KK84 capsules and a mint s/h KK84.
Probably amongst the last mics I would consider selling as they sound so damned good on almost anything you stick them on.
Although we have a KM54 the KM84's still are chosen over the KM54 on plenty of things. I wouldn't sell them!
Now to find a couple of KM86's!
