Another clone? I got a GAP 73 for free and tweaked it inside. It does that dirty Neve sound well, but I rarely use it.
I would love to see some new designs rather than re-inventing the wheel over and over again.

I wish the previous designs would be completed before these new things start rolling. If my Stam SSL style comp had arrived in March, like it was scheduled to, I'd already have preordered this Neve style preamp.

hmmm....
AML Heritage Bae GAP AMS Neve
Not to mention all of the DIY PCBs you can get to build your own (1290 preamp only, etc) Not to mention all of the other commercial ones that don't claim to be a neve clone but describe themselves as "british"...
now this guy has one.
The market for Neve 1073 preamps is officially flooded.

The thing is STAM is trying to make it work, here is a guy who is trying to make Decent short runs of Equipment in Brazil! Have you seen what's happening in Brazil ? Brazil means cheap labor, but getting the quality name brand components can't be easy to manage, then he has to ship them out on a slow boat! He isn't in the Ross Martin wait arena yet, he's financing his runs off deposits and the last run! Want it Well built, inexpensive and fast? Well reality sucks! Pick 2!

Also, I'm under the impression these are actually made in China, then "final assembly" in Chile, whatever that means. Whatever the case, I'm interested and purchased the SSL. I don't care if it's slow, I just want realistic timelines. For the Neve, it says shipping in September. Does that actually mean January since my SSL is running 4 months late? Is the SSL going to be delayed even more? Who knows.

That we had ... One day out because your clients been waiting 4 months? Well you know that Fedex plane that crashed? Wel....)" Jesse we live in a world where everybody has a computer that runs their just in time inventory. Unfortunately nobody has developed a good shit happens algorithm! It amazes me how something like a simple load of sand being late in the middle of China can delay everything from Audio Compressors to Air Compressors. Unfortunately carrying inventory is expensive , at least Stam only wants a deposit! Now I'm waiting for somebody from an old vendor to call bullshit on my patience!

Hello Everyone,
Just wanted to clarify a couple of points.
Yes, there are several manufacturers that make 1073´s replicas/clones and 1073 inspired preamps BUT this is the first time ever at this price point with the exact same premium components as others who charge 3 times as much for the exact same circuit. Also, we have gone a step further, I tested transformers for several months and I can tell you that you will be blown away by the Sowter output transformer, it´s the closest I have ever heard to the original Marinair LO1166. So there you have two new things, pricing and a newly designed output transformer that finally tackles the low end that was missing on current offerings. This said, Carnhill makes great sounding transformers and people will be happy with either version.
With regards to delays. The 1073 is not a new product, I have been building it for years, I just announced a new batch and it will do nothing to delay the SSL nor benefit it. Also, we originally said April, so right now we are one month delayed, not four, though it´s not acceptable there is a big difference.
Anybody who wants to cancel their pre-order on the SA-4000 can do so or get a refund and I will still hold their place on the list with the option to pay in full when it´s ready.
Delays are out of my hands but I assume complete responsability and apologize for any inconvenience that it might have caused.
Thank you
Joshua

I'd just prefer to be told that it's coming in July and have it arrive in April than the other way around. It is what it is though, I'll be happy to finally get it in my hands.

Want it Well built, inexpensive and fast? Well reality sucks! Pick 2! AML's ez1073 Kit takes about 4 hours to build, and is between $8-900 (including chassis) shipping from England in about 2-3 days to NYC. Reality was great for me, cuz I got all 3 when I built mine! It's a single channel including the EQ, vs. this 2ch box which is really just the 1290 circuit used in the 1073, and 1081, i believe. a 2ch Neve Preamp-Only box for $900 is a pretty good deal...

I ran into a short-term financial problem, and Joshua instantly returned my deposit. As a matter of fact, the Canadian dollar had gone down in the interim, and I ended up with more money than I had originally given since the transactions were all in US dollars. I don't know if you guys remember, but I think I introduced Stam to RGO by asking is STAM a SCAM. Well, it was an honest question, his prices just seemed ridiculously low. But Joshua has more than proven himself, he's the real deal!

Since this is a product release thread, maybe we could keep the topic on the Stam. You're welcome to start an AML thread.

Congrats to Joshua!! Josh has been building 1073s for some time now... perfecting everything. He's only released very limited numbers up until now.
I'm still waiting on my buss comp too and another promised goody. But in the meantime, great to see he's busy!!

I'm digging mine so far. Just recorded a vocal for a tune going on a compilation album of Michael Moorcock songs, CV4 into Stam 1073.
Also used it to makeup gain on the Zulu, sweet combination.
It's got gravitas and it's quiet too.
Edited to say I've got the Sowter version too.

I got the Sowter output transformers...I'm sure you guys have read where I've mentioned it before, but I really, really like this thing. A lot. Super natural on the top end and upper mids. And that's what I remember from using the vintage stuff. Bigger than life on bottom and natural on top. I would highly, highly recommend this thing.
