I am in search of stereo t-bars and a decent mic stand for kick drum. I really don't have a lot of knowledge of what is out there. I did a Google search and found too many options, could someone please help narrow it down with some suggestions on decent stands. I need a couple more stands and a couple stereo T-bars. Thanks.

I took regular 10$ stands and just sawed them off at the bottom to make a few short ones for kick and such.

99% of kick stands are just modified desk stands no matter the price. Stereo bars, depends what you want, some are very nice professional tools, others are simple steel bars with 3 holes drilled, Got a drill press? Seriously I've built a couple over the years, some of the adjustables can't take the weight of some of the big ones.

Problem I've had and still have with stereo bars on overheads is getting a mic stand high enough. Spaced pair don't need to reach as far. high/long reaching stands are in the multiple hundreds.
Am gonna try your idea svart.

I bought K&M stands for years, not cheap and the quality went downhill. None of them are really solid. I switched to the Triad Orbit line now. More expensive but rock solid. Versatile and easy to handle. Best stands I have ever seen.

I've read that before. Could be true but I wonder if k&m haven't done themselves a disservice by releasing a cheaper line.
They still sell the soft touch stands which are grey. I thought they were the same as the old ones.
The black ones I'm not so sure about.

Might well be, I always had the black and silver ones. Not sure if the silver ones are still available, they seemed to be more solid.

Orbit and Latch Lake are the last of the professional mic stands. These days Monoprice stands are probably coming off the same line as K&M.

+1. Great for heavy tube mics too. I got mine on sale at Sweetwater for $100.

+1. Great for heavy tube mics too. I got mine on sale at Sweetwater for $100. I built a bar that stays on one of the stands for overheads.. I can move the mics as close to each other for XY or far enough apart for spaced pair on a single rod. That freed up my other hex-base stand so the U47 stays on it constantly. You can see the overhead bar here:

I don't think it's a bad stand, I have just heard a couple of horror stories, and damn it I miss the Quality of the old American made Large Atlas Studio Stands! If you do own one of these invest in a die because at some point you will need to recut the threads!

I use a desktop stand for my kick micing. It's small and doesn't have a huge base so placement is easier.
I was also lucky enough to come across 3 atlas booms on craigslist a couple years back for $150. If you're live in a market with lots of musicians, you're can find quite a few deals on craigslist.
