Looks/sounds like a great product. Studer on a stick!
One comment on the sound sample video though. I'm afraid that you do the same thing that many product manufacturers do .. you speak between samples. It's easier/better to show what something does by just switching between the sounds with some text on the screen to say which I am listening to. Once someone speaks .. we all start to forget the original sound.
I hope the knobs are stepped (and the circuits matched) for the stereo bus to preserve stereo image. I didn't see anything in the material about that.
As someone living outside the USA, the "post it back to us for an upgrade" bit is not really going to work.
Stereo version pre-ordered.

I didn't see anything in the material about that. As someone living outside the USA, the "post it back to us for an upgrade" bit is not really going to work. Stereo version pre-ordered. There may be some opportunity for a DIY upgrade. The process involves no soldering. We could mail you the tape opamps, the ribbon cables, face plate with controller boards and knobs pre-installed. You'd need to know how to use a screw driver and be familiar with plugging in a connector similar to one on a IDE hard drive. (Childs play). Ideally, if you're trading up we'd receive the old faceplate back (far cheaper to ship) and we could refurbish it back to factory/like new condition. We could then donate units with these refurbed faceplates to after school programs and vocational/technical programs here in the USA. Obviously by trading back in your faceplate and trading up, you'd receive a discount against your multitrack Zulu. Hopefully this is a far better compromise for you. I have dealt in olenty of situations where a business existed outside the USA that had something I wanted. I had to mail in a component, they'd work their magic on it and then mail it back. However, in your case it sounds like its best that we send you the upgrade kit and can walk you through (though instructions with pictures will be provided) the process. Thanks -L.

Sorry if our website is not freshly updated, thats in progress. All the controls on Zulu are stepped. All controls that involve level or imaging are utilizing 1% metal film resistors on ladders. All resistors, capacitors and passive components, including transformers are all utilized from the same production run. So 1% resistors in batch A are used in production run A. Nothing from B crosses over into A. And so on for all components in Zulu. Each channel is matched by nature of design and exposed to test procedures and QC at our electronic sub assembly facility as well as our full assembly facility. I also plan on ear checking production runs to ensure that our QC methods translate to real world applications. I do realize that stepped controls don't necessarily spell a matched signal between two channels, but that also has to do with how your controls are designed. Using a resistor ladder to control a voltage is very different from using a stepped potentiometer. Both could be calibrated for 1k but the potentiometer unless you use a very expensive piece will drift in value from position to position by varying amounts. If the circuit is sensitive enough to those variations it effects the accuracy of your steps. This is why we used a high precision ladder on a switch, instead of a stepped pot. It ensures a tighter match between channels and more consistent changes (however you programmed your ladder in the design stage) from one switch position to the next. Thanks -L.

Langston, your stereo promo buyers are crying for production units. Well, I am.. We will be shipping those units out the minute they are in the box. First we are actually going to send our buyers the bill! We just want everything to be perfect for you all and our future customers before we start collecting payments. We will be placing our e-store online once we release. If you have pre-ordered with us already, please do not order through the store for your unit. We will bill you directly. If you have pre-ordered, unless you wanted to order 2 Zulus (totally fine) please don't re-pre-order LOL. Duplicates are not the end of the world, but I'm just as easily reached by email if you want confirmation. Langston@handsomeaudio.com Thanks -L.

So, when will the stereo and multi-track units be released?

So, when will the stereo and multi-track units be released? Stereo rack and multitrack? Stereo rack is looking like spring this year. Multitrack we are shooting for fall. Our hardest effort was getting the electronics to be perfect for us. Generating the stereo rack and the multitrack will be a far shorter process for us. Thanks -L.

Based on the samples and a tune Langston let me hear, I think he's on to something underneath that epoxy. Can't wait to try it.

illacov Hey Langston, what do you think an actual, realistic timeframe is for shipping Zulus? I'm in the middle of a record and I do a lot of hardware printing and I'm literally considering holding off on some of the prints because I want to experiment with this beast.

Once my trip is completed and we have our confirmed date for shipment, we will begin sending out invoices for the cost of Zulu and the shipping to the recipient. Thanks -L.

We will be sending out a mass email to all pre-order participants regarding their Zulus.
We have a warehouse with some little green monsters that are ready to meet their new families.
Please keep your eyes peeled, our mass emailer is confirming we're not the Borg and away we go!
Thanks -L.
