I had to resort to the tissue paper "mod" on my Polk RTi A3. It made me feel better when I saw Vance Powell mixing on his NS10s the same way. Whatever works, ya know. Right now I'm listening to some JBL LSR305 and these things are the real deal. I'm still in the honeymoon phase, but I want to say, don't let the low price scare you. My JBL LSR4328P are never going away. I've not found anything else that I've worked so effortlessly on. When they sound good, the mix sounds exactly the same on any other source. Someone should try the tissue paper on the Slate VMS mic. Ya never know.

I was recording in NY and LA studios when NS10's became popular. Just about every studio had toilet paper taped over the tweeters. The science was settled.

Hey Don I always thought the TP mod was proof that the overwhelming reason for the proliferation of NS10's was they were cheap as shit! otherwise everybody would have spent $100 to have the crossovers rebuilt with a padded tweeter!

O.P. Did you call Event in Australia? i.e. Rode, the parent company because their service is IME excellent; hard to believe they wpuldn't have a spare tweeter or at least make every effort to see you right.
I assume because the repairers replaced the tweeter that it wasn't the amp?.
Certainly mechanical devices can take some time to break in but if the tweeter ain't the same as the other box, I would initially doubt the ability for them to sound the same.
I'd go to the top - check with Rode Australia
Cheers, Ross

Further to my previous post, that's got to be incorrect about no tweeters as the 2030s are still advertised on both the US website and the Australian.
The Australian number you should ring is:61 - 2 9648 5855. It's 9.00am in Sydney right now . I'll be surprised if you don't get a "no worries mate".
Cheers, Ross

You may have more success in Oz than I had here in the states. I have long forgotten that I replaced a tweeter in one of the speakers. I suppose some day I should send the other tweeter in to have them rebuild that so it matches.

Oops forgotteng , just checked to see how long ago you actually first posted - sorry.
FWIW, if you were going to update at any stage I would personally still consider bringing the repaired one up to correct spec.
ericn, I thought it was their Opal which had the 2nd gen tweeter change ; the 2030 as well?
Cheers, Ross

I learned to mix on these monitors with an PT Icon and PT HD, with HD I/O's and in a pretty great tuned and treated room. I remember someone would reset the measurement software curve almost daily because they would add more bass until one day the person realized that had been making all of his mixes bass light hahaha.... It was cool learning recalibrating the monitors to the room everyday, however did get old after awhile, and dig into studio time... The monitors themselves have Peak Meters as well as come with a measuring mic and SW.... Reminds me to put a pair in my to go list and see how they sound in my room... may save me from a Barefoot mm45 / Pmc two two 8 expense
