I was talking with tony about your build you sent him. he said he noticed right away somethin' really simple and small. He said the DOA sockets didn't have enough solder on 'em and were probably cold solder joints, which would explain why your build didn't work. No DOAs, no sound! I haven't heard anything since, but if that's all it was to make 'em work, you should be happy that you did a solid job on the rest of the build! So, get back to buildin'!!!

JK did a pretty solid job for a just starting out noob! I went through this thing as much as i could, i reflowed the entire thing and pretty much believe it's a final output transformer issue? I was going to switch it out with one of mine, but Jeff said he'd take care of it, so I'm sending it back failing to fix the problem. For me, the most difficult thing is there is no schematic for referencing while trying to chase things down, and i'm not a good enough of an electronics guy to go beyond what i've done without one, so.... off she goes...., i am very curious to find out what the problem actually is.

Check it out at Fix Audio designs. It looked nice at NAMM!

There's graphics as well? Like the 560? Jeff has 2 that use knobs rather than sliders there is a thread here somewhere and they are on his site!

Any more news on these? How are they different from the LC's? They have the same EQ points, but I see these honkin' switches in there. Price, ease of build, differences to the LC's, all questions that we need answers to!

the LC53s use Inductors and Capacitors to achieve the filtering. This new EQ uses Resistor/Capacitor networks to do the filtering.

Hey guys, still trying to get organized since the move. Trying to get setup so I can reopen the store has been my priority. Getting close. Hoping to reopen on the 1st.
The new BT50 will street for $449.99 plus 2 opamps. The first batch of Grayhill switches are due in about a week or 10 days. The knobs should be here later in May. Metal is in production. Faceplates will be printed and done in about 2 weeks. My goal is for the kits to be released by the end of May.
The only similarities between these and the LC53A's are the freq points. Chuck has already (very well) described the filter topologies. I have not had a chance to do any side by side listening but will have some pro's doing that over the next few weeks. I will try to get some clips for download at similar settings. The highest amount of cut/boost they have in common is 6dB.
I hope to have the LC25 and LC40 kits released before the BT50's. I have the final PCB Rev here that I want to build up and test. Switches are here for those. Metal is also at the print shop.
Busy, busy, busy!!!

Let me chime in...Being the master veteran that I am, it's pretty easy...(by the time you get to the end of the project.)

Yeah but you also started with a VP28. Not really a novice's 1st project. Go big or go f*** yourself, I guess! Lol. Did you watch any vids or get some kind of practice kit? The CAPI stuff is just way too good and this is a skill I really should learn anyway. I'm dying for some nice outboard EQ's.

I'm keeping all my older CAPI gear face plates with the Law suit knobs. Someday everyone will want the vintage Capi gear.
