The iPad is just sooooo futzy...The ONLY app remote I've been able to get work (Cubase IC crashes 8.5, PT control is clumsy as hell and glitches) is V-Control 1...and the transport buttons (play, record, etc...) are smaller than my pinky finger nail. Man, I could close my eyes, keep a hand on the Tranzport and work without looking. This SUUUUUCKS.

John, If you just want remote transport buttons, what's wrong with a bluetooth keyboard or keypad? Doh...good idea...

Yeah....for Cubase, the BlueTooth numPad will handle in/out transport stuff. You can't do the same anything else--like deciding to mute the annoying scratch vocal while working up a rhythm part. ....but, that will be the answer when the Transport no longer works. Actually, the other reason is because I've found that it's rare that controllers are really tight and supported long term other than first party proprietary. ie--Steiny's stuff for Cubase, Avid's stuff for PT....because the fact is an overwhelming majority of users of DAW software use keyboard and mouse alone. The small "rest of" the market gets divided and conquered, because since MCU there has been no real standard--and even there, it was a communication standard that apps implemented differently. But, you can ALWAYS assign keyboard shortcuts to anything you want....and that will ALWAYS work, because that is core functionality. You can actually get the Belkin version of the BlueTooth NumPad locally at the Best Buy. Little more $$....but....just made a note last time I was in the Nashville West BB.

I have the Belkin num pad, it's a must for DP and MacBookPro for transport, locater, wiper and record/play. I pick it up to record away from the desk, even though the DP iOS app works good too.

Update I ran across....thought I'd pass this along to RGO. I've not fully tested, but it does seem to work fine in LPX (10.3 FWIW-OSX.12). www.synclavier.com/TranzPortPlugin.htmlApparently, the guys at MOTUNation tracked down one of the ex developers and asked if he'd update the driver for a fee. Thus....the $35 charge. If it works as well as it appears to....best $35 I've ever spent. I'd begrudgingly been using the Logic remote app for the phone.....even went out and get a mic stand clip that will hold the iPhone OR iPad....I mean, they WORK....but, tonight putting that Transport back on it's mic stand, standing across the room and hitting play? Priceless. Anyway....so, if was made for DP....but I actually learned of it--someone talking about the scrub feature going wonky in some specific version of LogicX....and thinking "hey--ho do ANY of the features work in LPX?"

Thanks, man! I actually saw my old Tranzport the other day. Knew there was a reason I hadn't thrown it away. I have been doing the Bluetooth keyboard thing...which works fine...but maybe I'll try this.

I used the Alphatrack version successfully for awhile, however it appears an update to the MOTU AVB Discovery app hosed it. It no longer works with the computer that got the AVB update, still works on another that didn't. FWIW.

So, I had already bought a mic stand adapter for the iThings, so I now had a mic stand with an iPad, Transport, and headphone hook. Cool right?
You want to know why I love the Tranzport? This morning, I go to do a guitar session.....iPad won't connect. Wait....now it's connected....now it's not....wait--what wireless did you want me to connect to? Meanwhile, I simply hit buttons on the Tranzport....on it came, connected, working.....session continued.
Also...."new take".....not in the 4 pages of key commands. I can probably add it, but with four pages of key commands on a remote and "new take" isn't one? What a weird app.

I really need to get this up and running again. I'm constantly switching between Cubase and Pro tools and can't ever remember all the keyboard shortcuts for tracking.

I can confirm....Cubase 9 (30 demo version) does the same thing (only selecting track 1-8) here on OSX. Sorry I didn't even think to test that....Steiny making us use the Tranzport in "MCU mode" now rather than supporting native mode. Hopefully, it works for you in HUI mode in ProTools. I tried HUI mode on Cubase (in addition to MCU) and got nothing but the transport itself.

I love my transport. I can track/play drums and hit record without having to get up. Plus undo like a boss. Why don't more controllers implement this design?!
