So, these arrived today. Soyuz SU-019 and a matched pair of Soyuz SU-013. I already have and love the ones with the blue badges so thought these with the green badges should compliment them. You beat me by one day, mikec ! My new SU-013 matched pair arrived on 5/10. Haven't had a chance to plug them in yet, but I'm looking forward to it soon. I'm curious to hear about your experience between the 017 and the 019, once you've used the 019 for a bit. I'm interested in getting one of those two, and I can justify a $2000 mic a bit easier than a $3500 mic right now. But if I'm going to regret not saving up for the 017, then it's certainly worth it to wait. Doing some comparisons today on male vocal between the SU-017 and SU-019. So far I can say the SU-019 is stellar and holds its own. I'd be happy to provide more feedback as I work with both over the next few days.

I know someone that can give a quote on those. I have the 13s and love them. Really need to check the 19 out.

Klon clone I built from a kit. Actually a really nice pedal.

Artisan Tele. Fantastic instrument: I have the Squire Classic Vibe version of this. Best tele I've played, better than most of the American Standards I auditioned too. It lacks the burl of the wood, but it's a great instrument.

Just kidding. Something to do with the diodes that the pedal guys freak out about. That's why nothing sounds like a Klon except an original $2k pedal...or so they say. A fool and his money.

They nailed the box, though. Cool.

They nailed the box, though. Cool. The box looks just as good in person. Only complaint is that the lid doesn't sit straight. The diodes are Russian germs. I doubt they're all that different.

I made one with a switch between generic 1N34A, and the recommended Russian diode. The difference was...very subtle.
I've actually got two DIY Klones here and I use them all the time.

The Mythical Overdrive is my personal favorite Klone. I absolutely love mine (except that any charge pump pedal feeds back into some of the settings on my Strymon pedals.) The different diodes become a little more distinct from one another as you push them harder, IME.

Mad Bean Pedals used to make a "Sun King" PCB and that was a pretty bad-ass project.
I made a smaller one, too, that fits into a 125B (boss size) enclosure, and I went with the BYOC "silver" specs on that one. I also tossed in some audiophile op amps rather than the standard TL072, and I think it made the buffer sound just that much better. Haha!
Really satisfying pedals. Sounds more like a cranked-up amp than most overdrives do. Stick a mic on it and it sort of does the illusion for you.
There was a month or so that I was absolutely obsessed with the Klon minutia, so I bought all the right diodes, Panasonic FC electro caps, etc. Kind of went down the rabbit hole.
I agree the Mythical Overdrive looks like the one to beat.

I landed on a Skinner klone way back when I was on a big pedal kick. I dig it. I think he started Rawkworks shortly after.

Ceriatone makes a kit consisting of just the guts of an exact Klon. It is to die for. Got the case and switch off eBay from a seller in Hong Kong and you are golden.

Wow I did not know about the Ceriatone Centura! I have to get one of those things just to look at it. I love the logo where the centaur guy is smashing the guitar.

Oh, got back from Miami to find the Dizengoff D2 and D4, and the Orban (early version this time) parametric EQ waiting for me.
Got them installed tonight, but haven't wired them in to the patch bays yet.

I’m beginning to think we need a special members only section for affordable gems like the Orban EQ’s because the prices just keep going up and the deals are getting fewer and fewer.
