Just got the UAD Brainworx Friedman Buxom Betty amp sim... for $24!
This one ticks a lot of boxes for me. Seems like it will be super useful as a general go-to amp plugin... if/when I ever really need that in tracking.
The best part was that I was jamming out on it for an hour or more and it just felt and sounded great.
It's a little similar to my general most-preferred real life amp heads that I own. So I guess it works for me. Kind of reminds me of my Selmer Treble n Bass MK II in some ways.
Fendery enough, Marshally enough but better than that it's sort of in between, a little more versatile than either. (Than either type of UAD plugin I demo'd as well.)
It's also not a low-watt amp or a high-gain amp, both of which are less useful to me as well. Sort of medium gain 50 watts. Bit of a sweet spot I guess. It's good.

A second pair of 3U warbler 127 c flats. I picked them up because I wanted to use them during a session when they were on drum overhead duty.
I figure they’ll come into good use. Also toying with the idea of eventually sending a pair to Barbaric to convert to SDC tubes...

I’ve caved in to 500-series toys! Rupert Neve Designs R6 lunchbox, to be filled with a pair of EM-PEQ, pair of Chroma, and a Colour Palette. I’m keeping one slot empty just because.

Nice, Always was a big ADL fan, but if you want that thing to sound like an LA2 and not an ADL, send it to Jim Williams!

Picked up this early 60's Rogers Holiday kit a couple weeks back. I'd like to make some non-drum purchases soon but it seems like everything fun I want for the studio is at least $1000...

Well, I finally changed it up. Wayfair had some floors on sale for 67 cents a square foot and they had enough left in stock to do my basement, so I spend $300 on flooring. Maybe it’ll inspire me to set up the space for displaying all my drums and jamming.

If it’s a laminate, cheap floor is fine but spend the coin on the expensive Pergo sound deadening underlayment, makes all the difference in the world!

View AttachmentLooks like 20, 12, 14? I can’t find a damn 14” holiday floor for a reasonable price and it’s been really getting to me lately. I may just have to pony up and get a whole kit already. Problem is I already have a full kit but with a 16” ft Those Rogers kits are just perfect sounding... Are the B&B lugs all in good shape on that kit?

Yeah, it’s a 20/12/14 with a Powertone snare. It actually had all the bread and butter lugs removed because they were cracked, but I have them. Doesn’t look like any of the holes were changed or enlarged. Slingerland style lugs. I have a ‘61 Slingerland Red Sparkle 16” floor tom that’s wrap matches perfect. I have another Rogers kit that’s 20/12/12/14 in black diamond pearl I’ll probably sell soon. It’s a Dayton era kit with Beavertail lugs. Its Shaw brand vinyl tile, same stuff you can buy at Home Depot or Lowe’s. I don’t think they had much stock which is why it was discounted. I’ve had good luck with Wayfair in the past.

Well low and behold I bought another Avid HD Analog I/O 16x16...now I have 32 in and out for the eventual hook up of my Trident Series 70 console. Still have to buy a computer and an HD Native card (sigh)

The first step is admitting you have a problem. Didn’t we all do that when we joined? TESTIFY!! I picked up another Switchcraft 9625 today and a couple of Orban EQs, old cheap things but they work great for notching out that icky 350 from toms and kicks... when you need more EQs!!

^^^^ I picked one of those up SUPER cheap, planning to flip it, but it is a damn nice kit. This coming from somebody that never uses anything made after '68 haha.
Have fun with it!

Picked up a Furman RV-1. I think I'm done buying spring reverbs, unless an AKG BX-10 or something falls into my lap.

Got a Proco RAT 2 today, current issue, stuck an old LM308 op amp in it (which all of these need if they don't have it.) Got a DOD Boneshaker coming on Weds. and hopefully a new Supro guitar by the end of the week!
