Just bought a shit-ton of computer parts. I'm going to build one computer for my brother, whose PC is getting close to ten years now, and one for myself. So I will have a super duper CPU for the main 'studio' room, as well as a super duper #2 computer for the drum room, slash mobile work. Both of mine will have Core i7 CPUs, Thunderbolt, and SSD drives internal. (M.2 drive on the two newest builds.) This will open up the doors to have a full 24+ channel interface rig for home, and mobile, as I procure audio interfaces down the line. The last time I ripped apart my studio to take it somewhere else, I vowed to never do that again. There has to be an easy, separate rig for mobile work, for me. I can't record bands at this location, anyway, so it's vaguely important. Also not a purchase, but I spent a few hours hauling huge guitar/bass cabinets in and out of the rooms, and my Marshall half stack is set up in the main guitar area, pretty exciting. Good full-body workout as well. It's good to keep things changing on a cycle, keeps me creative and active. And clean, as well. Decent computer is probably one of the most important pieces of gear you can have in a modern DAW setup..

Computer or CPU performance is the most performance per dollar of any possible gear upgrade. Especially if you have spent hundreds on DAWs and plugin upgrades. It's a huge feature for my way of working. I view the outboard gear as a sort of slightly expnensive hobby. Microphones and instruments, preamps, obviously have huge credibitlity not being largely replicated by the CPU environment. I can't think of any better thing to do right now.

Found a great deal on a Kemper rack with a hard case loaded with m.britt and Amp Factory profiles. Chained it up with my Zod DI and Zulu. Don't get me wrong, I'd rather play an actual amp with actual tubes and move actual air with my actual speaker into one of my actual awesome mics into my actual VP28....But this is SOOOO easy and takes WAY less time (and these days, time is the ultimate commodity). Did I mention it actually sounds pretty f**king great? It feels like I'm cheating...

I recently got a really nice deal on a Hendy Da Vinci. I had ordered a Rembrandt but when the time came for my turn on the worktable, Chris didn't have a Rembrandt chasis so he offered to build me a DaVinci for the same price. The preamp in the DaVinci is the same as the Rembrandt but it also has a compressor. Yesterday was the first day I had a chance to play around with it and it's a damn fine bit of kit. It imparts a definite color and it seemed to be very flattering. One of the more interesting and useful things on it is a 6 position low cut filter. It also has an "air" switch which gives a high frequency boost and a "smile" switch which acts like a sidechain compressor affecting just the mids while leaving the highs and lows alone. Pretty damn cool.

2 all them witches tix!!! I set them up with their 1st gig in my town, and ended up playing tape op on part of their live record. Wild to watch them blow up.

I am in the middle of a bunch of fuzz pedals right now. Got a Fuzz Face on the bench currently, and a Big Muff fresh off the press is rocking my world. Still have not tried anything like a Maestro.

Especially on bass. I got the Jext Telez White Pedal a few months back and thought maybe I'll just stick with this and don't really need a fuzz. Nah! So yeah decided to give the original a go.

I had one of the original Maestro Fuzz Tones in 1960's I bought from a friend for $10.00. It was the slanted one that I had painted white with colored flowers on it. Used it in the band I was in. Don't remember what happen to it.
Have you had or compared it the KLON?

The "sweet spot" in a pedal. I'm a big klon-head but they do not sound anything like an old fuzz pedal.

Not recently acquired, but recently finished off restoration, RCA BC-2B tube consolette, exceeds factory spec according to the Audio Precision test set. Full in/out options on the connector panel I added. Use it as 8 preamps, use it as a dual mono L/R mixer from line sources, or as original. Use different mix amps, etc. Ready for portable use too, since it's all connectorized.
