A new Ableton Move. Super fun, intuitive, and seamless with Live.

I just designed and ordered my own Musicman Stingray 5 on their website. My first ever "nice" instrument was a 5 string Musicman that I got in 2000. When I got into recording, I sold that bass to guitar center to fund an 8-channel M-Audio ADAT preamp to pair with my Digi002. To say that I have regretted that is a huuuuge understatement, lol.
Gonna have a 4-6 month wait for it, but it will be nice to have one again after all of these years.
I'm primarily a Fender guy, but these are such a nice option if you want something more modern.

I've been considering a Yamaha Stage Custom Birch set. It would be pretty different from my Gretsch set, and I could do all sorts of mixing and mashing.

These guys sent the PL2 from Spain to France with only 2 layers of bubble wrap and a tote bag lol. I won't go into more details, but it's an ongoing business. People stepping on my toes sometimes walk away with an unpinned grenade in their back pocket. Good luck with it Louie!

Well, my Ovation guitar I ordered from Guitar Center is more trouble than it's worth so it's going back. Oh well.
BUT! I did find someone who wanted to trade some stuff I had sitting around for a Sterling Modular Plan A desk. I've had one before, and it's a bit overkill for my home needs, but I can ditch my monitor stands and be a bit more organized at the same time.
And a local used dealer in here had a pair of XQP De-essers, a DBX 520, and a Alctron something or other as a bundle for $300 so I grabbed those. The XQP de-essers are great, plan is just to keep those and sell the DBX and other module to try and get some money back

I used to have a DBX 900 rack and always like 902's. Are the 520's pretty interchangeable? I'd probably would have kept a couple of those if I had one of those single space 2 unit 900 series racks

I only had one though, so prompted by your post I ordered a second one to fill buss duties. Ack! poppa... Buss duties for a de-esser(!?!) Yup, because the XQP 2531 is actually mis-named. It *not* just deesser... It is an optical compressor geared toward the high end with feed forward, feedback and FF/FB Blend, a HPF that goes really high, a range knob that provides increased cut resolution and an assymetrical saturation circuit that softens the sibilance with saturation. I was using it in serial with the Der-Esser in HF limit mode, and together they are pretty powerful. But really I found i only need the XQP 2531; the DerEsser can get a bit too intense of HF limiting unless I am very careful not to overdo it.

I believe these are the original 531 de-essers, but that's a great idea to try! This morning I traded an Ampeg V4B reissue head for a Fender Bandmaster Reverb TLF5005D with matching 2x12" cabinet. Been wanted a Fender head with reverb and tremolo for the studio and I think this will be great. Decent headroom but not as much as a Dual Showman.

Congratulations, if memory serves me Bandmaster Cabinets are sealed, to increase the versatility you might consider finding a pair of old Fender or favorite 12’s and DIY an open back cabinet. Just an easy way to get a more shall we say Traditional Fender Tone out of the Amp, without breaking the bank ( I always liked open Back Fenders with JBL D120’s).

The stock output transformer gives it that spongy low headroom thing that’s cool but maybe makes the amp less versatile. I upgraded mine and it cleaned up a ton.

Two Aphex 661 on their way, too. I wanted some Elysia comp with their auto-fast attack, but the Aphex bundle was so cheap I couldn't resist. Elysia will wait ! Dan's signature on the Aphex faceplates would have been a nice touch honestly ! Love your attitude bro, you are a righteous dude!

Been wanted a Fender head with reverb and tremolo for the studio and I think this will be great. Decent headroom but not as much as a Dual Showman. I think that your device will also do the assymetrical clipping as well, from the description of the 2531 the equivalent setting in the 531 original is the "Soft"setting. xqpaudio.net/XQP%202531-0401%20User%20Guide.pdfI just got in a new Germ mic/instrument pre and am doing some quick and dirty testing for function. Not really ready to talk about that new Germ pre until I got all the functions tested. But, while I was up, I decided to throw the vocal I'm using for testing that Germ pre also through the gauze-ifying, breathy-erizer, rarified airifier, loufidied, in-ya-face chain I've been exploring. So this is a raw dry lead vocal from AVEC "Home", a freely available track, replete with a couple of wicked p=pops and in need of more processing than I'm going to give here. This is just to show how the XQP can complement a chain by compressing the high frequencies in a optical leveling manner (more like AGC for high frequencies), and also reduce the trigger of downstream comps on HF material. Both tracks are normalized to -19.1 LUFS according to Youlean. The wet track is 3.3 dBu total peak gain reduction. Although they are the same LUFS, the Wet track is decidedly more loud perceptually to me from the low level bring up (and yeah some small part of that is hiss I'm battling). I'm on the cruddy computer so there are some clicks and crackles in the processed track. Chain: 1) Mic level signal from DAW/DAC to Avedis LPZ-2 for reduction of signal gain and impedance matching for the RQP500. I like to do this in Mic mode instead of using the RPQ500 in Line mode. It seems to offer more character options. 2) RPQ500 with the HPF about 30 hz and ~11:00 gain on the HF emphasis band with the freq set ~6khz to capture high mids. 3) XPQ2531 with the SC set to "X" (1.7khz, pretty low), Feed Forward for a little more aggression and the GR set to 3 ticks up on the HI setting. The GR LED should be nearly continually on dimly and pop with exuberant singing. 4) AS VCOMP+ full input, wide open output, + Drive, second to slowest release, double mode. Achieving about 20-30 dBu GR on average according to the meter. You can see I hella squashed it for this example from the waveform, but kind of skeptical that I was actually getting 20-35 dB GR. 5) Back into the Avedis LPZ-2 to reduce gain and not clip the ADC before the DAW. What I'm trying to accomplish is a leveled very forward in-ya-face vocal that brings up breathyness and air and levels out high frequency dynamics. Then blend a bit back in and EQ and verb the whole lot. I didn't have time to prepare the original vocal so that it was tight and ready for blending, and there are no blended tracks here, just Wet and Dry but hopefully the point comes across. The XPQ2531 essentially levels the upper mids and HF in the vocals, but doesn't trigger off mids or lows. So the upper mids and HF then so that this will not trigger the VComp+. This leaves the VComp + to handle the low end and mods. In a way it creates a multiband SC across the two comps. What is impressive is how the XQP2531 and the VCop+ took down that mega transient just before the middle part of the track (see waveform below). It faired pretty good overall, I've still lots to learn. Waveforms, turquoise is Dry and fuscia is Wet DRY Stats: WET Stats: i.imgur.com/Dghv7hy.jpgSound Cloud Tracks: https%3A//soundcloud.com/poppaflavor/avec-home-lv-og-dryhttps%3A//soundcloud.com/poppaflavor/avec-home-lv-og-wet-rpq500-xqp2531-as-vcompBTW- A quick break for a Plug for XQP. Here is their warranty notification: Nice.

I'm going to try and find an oversized 1x12" cabinet and probably throw a Texas Heat speaker in there because it's one of the few 4 ohm 12" speakers available.

Not a bad choice, but if there are any others you like ask your local speaker repair/ recone guy. You would be amazed at how many have 4 ohm recone kits., also since it’s just a nominal rate if a 8 ohm on a 4 ohm Tap should be fine.
