Got a Vacuvox V41 EF12 in today from VK (thanks, RGO, damnit!). Unloaded it from the box and heard stuff moving around so pulled the top off. Couple of plastic parts for voltage selection rattling in there which I couldn't figure out where they came from (voltage selector was intact) but super bummed when I see one of the EF12 tubes that's suspended by springs had a spring off and all but one black wire snapped off of the tube pcb.
Waiting to hear back on solution from VK but packing this thing back up. Hope to try one out soon.
My rep did send me Dan Alexander's book and it's pretty awesome. So, at least there's that to enjoy.

I ordered 5 Samar MG33’s on Labor Day, still not here and only 4 on the way…, none too pleased considering I was going to try them out on a drum session this weekend, a month to receive an order after putting out $1,800.00 is bad enough, making my first payment on my VK card without even having them made my blood heat up significantly 🥵

No, I dealt with VK where I bought them, Samar sent 4 of them ground to Michigan from Utah last week(3 weeks too long) and then Michigan VK sent them to me ground in SoCal, an absolute slow road scenic trip middle finger salute to the guy who put out the cash…., and the 5th mic hasn’t been sent at all yet, if I don’t receive the 5th mic by the end of the first week of October I’m going to file a complaint with the cc co and demand a full refund and return all of the ones I should have by then, it’s such bad customer service on both VK and Samar that it deserves a return and a good day sirs, I’ll take my business elsewhere(the mics were on a Labor Day sale, if you can’t meet demand why would you put them on sale?)

Just the two Lightning Boy Audio 2020S (S is for Steel) transfos are new, well bought used. They are joining some other transfo boxes :-)
The LB 2020S sounds fantastic!! It really holds up with other transformers I have. Really nice low end saturation. Incredible on snare and kick. Softens hats. I took some spectra in REW and will try to post that and some sound examples this weekend. As you can tell, I've got a bit of a infatuation with transformers. Something about how a passive contraption of wound metal can influence sound just fascinates me.
