You switched capsules!
What did you find when doing that?

You switched capsules! What did you find when doing that? I was going to say "have a listen", but I see you already did.

Just ordered 3 Triad-Orbit short boom arms to add to my Triad kit. For those who don't know, Triad-Orbit is a nice modular system that gives you a lot of ways to mount multiple mics. I find myself moving more and more toward modified Decca trees, but the standard inter-mic distance is usually too much for a small group or closer-than-usual mic position. The short arms will let me make a tighter tree that can cover a smaller area and still maintain the mono compatibility and superior width that a tree is known for. First time to use it in anger will probably be May, when I've got a solo piano session.

Forgot to post pictures of these two recent acquisitions. . . . They sound even better than they look. The Signal Arts 48 is a GREAT compliment to the Heiserman 47 and the Neumann U67. The Vanguard V44s has just effectively replaced the U87 pair of room mics... I still keep them up, just don't really need them now. Using them in front of the kit in Blumlein gives me a fantastic capture and room tone as well. I highly recommend bth new Micropones

Picked up a 2000 G&L Legacy Special for $400 this morning. Previous owner thought he did me a favorite by fixing a scratchy pot by flushing it down with WD40 so now it stinks 😆but I’ll get it cleaned up

I sold mine for about $750 ten years ago and I regret it deeply. I haven't seen one for less than $900 nowadays. Best guitar I have ever owned. It has the most stable tuners, even when using the whammy bar. Plus, mine smelled like hotcakes, and I never knew why. Probably a vanilla polish or the nitrocellulose lacquer.

Repeat from another thread but bought a Undertone Audio Pyra-Sum last week (generic bus faceplate). Look forward to putting that to use in the Fall after our move.

Bought an AKG D160 for $100. They can be great on many acoustic instruments! They are a great utility dynamic, hard to find! I picked up 2 AT3035 for utility condensers live $80ea, the shockmounts will probably cost more.

G&L are probably the best values on the used market, it's a sin that they sell for under a grand.

Found a guy on reverb who wires up transformers into these cool vintage tin boxes. I picked up a pair of old Neve Belclere's, some vintage Beyer mic transformers, and some no name brand ones. All 3 total was like 500 bux. To me they all add a little magic to the audio that no plugin gets me. The Beyer's are just really pretty sounding. The no name one's get nice and dirty and are awesome on drums and bass. Haven't patched in the Belclere's yet, but that's on my agenda for this evening. Fun stuff. Easy to use, (no twiddling with knobs or wondering if you've overcompressed/eq'd). Just drive them to your desired taste and enjoy the added harmonics and sweetening that they provide!

This one is for the RGO synth freaks. I just secured a L.L Electronics Rozzbox One V2. I got lucky.

Not new gear per say but after a year of not wanting to step a paw into the studio, my dog out of nowhere walked in and claimed the couch as her own. I'd consider that a win.

Oddly enough, I just had to return a Synth, made in Connecticut. The Middle C is silent. Chris

The G&L was cheap because it doesn't have a case and it's missing the tremolo arm...and G&L is currently out of stock for this era. I did order a new set of knobs since one is stripped. Also in the bridge position it sounds very thin, but wiring looks ok? In position 2 (bridge and middle) it sounds like you'd expect.
I also picked up a Benchmark MPS-420. I have a MPS-400 and I use it a lot, it works great with ribbon microphones in particular, but I want to experiment with the built in mixer for submix some mics to "tape"...although it doesn't have a phase flip which would have been handy for top and bottom microphones. Probably wouldn't' be hard to install them...or just wire some XLRs out of phase 😆

Just lamenting more generally that the market under appreciates these guitars.

Mojave MA-300 pair. Really nice! Scratches that U67 itch that’s been bothering me. Here’s an example vocal: Little Curse (Onedrive link)I’m up to ten tube mics now, sold off my Townsend Labs Sphere L22 microphones. In particular, the Advanced Audio CM28 pair makes for a great drum room ORTF setup, and the Advanced Audio CM49TLE is an incredible vocal mic. Then of course there’s Chad’s Signal Art Electronics U47 Premium, the centerpiece of my setup (incredible Kick Out mic, in addition to working magic on pretty much any source). Also swapped an K47 “flat” capsule from Arienne Audio into my Advanced Audio CM48t stay, pretty happy with the result: Blue Reno (Onedrive link)
