Said fuck it, Alto Music had a generous coupon code and no sales tax, and order a Chandler REDD microphone. Just got to pay it off before that 6 months same as cash runs out 😛

Please report back on it when you put it through the paces. Martin John Butler is a big fan amongst others. Considered it several times.

PhantomFocus eChair. The coasters are a bit racy for my Texas foundation but I'm working on getting more resistant ones. Damn thing is a dream support-wise. My buddy turned me onto it after he used an Aeoron (sp?) for years.

Phoenix Audio DRS8 Mk2 -- recently made and in mint condition (used).
I swore I was going to stop buying f!@#ing preamps! Maybe that'll be my NY resolution...

I found a NOS Microtech Gefell M990 that had been sitting in a dealer's inventory for many years for a good price. This brings Tim's microphone collection to 3501

My buddy turned me onto it after he used an Aeoron (sp?) for years. Thanks for this! I hadn't heard of it. I desperately need a new chair and was considering Aeron or Leap, etc. Do the arms on the eChair go low enough to easily play guitar/bass/keys? I can't tell from the pics if they would go that low or not. EDIT: one thing I noticed on the website was this copy: Verrrrrry interesting. If anybody can find a way to slump in it, it will be me. I have a terrible tendency to slouch in my chair.

I have a terrible tendency to slouch in my chair. The arm rests lower and also pivot out to where you can get them out of the way to play. My friend was pointing this out to me when we were checking it out. I guess he was fighting the same type of slumping thing too. The support on this is really great though. Surprising there has been some discussion on it somewhere before. I thought it was a new thing until I found the 2016 TapeOp review Googling it.

I just watched a couple YouTube videos on it. I'm strongly considering it now. I do wish there were an option with a little bit taller back. With a low back (even with great lumbar support), I tend to slump over in the shoulder and push my neck too far forward. A taller back can encourage me to straighten back up. Anyway, it's now on the list to consider, for sure.

I have 511 eq’s coming. Will still happily report on them and Little Labs compressor. I already have one of those and wanted to make a nice stereo tracking channel strip using them with CAPI VC528s and the Electrdyne 511s I *think* it will be good. The VC528s are supposed to come tomorrow. Maybe I will make a little demo with one of them with almost what my “channel strip” will be: Daking micpre > CAPI 528 > Little Labs LL2a. The Electrodynes are on special order.

I'm sure the videos explain it all but in the few weeks I've had mine you kinda fine tune the height of the back, the slope (if any) of the seat and the back and whether or not you lock it into position or you let it travel and press on your back. Maybe it's the smallness of the back but there's definitely a thing to it that encourages you to get upright. It's kinda cool. And I would say super high quality for the money. Just wish the casters weren't built for the Indy 500.

UA Volt 1. Bought yesterday afternoon! Already have 2 nice vocal demos on it. Using the "Vintage"/610 Button emulation. A keeper! Chris Further adventures seem to indicate that... EV 767a > Vintage Button is a very nice VO chain. Handy for lesser sounding rooms. Chris

Got a pair of Samar AL95's coming from Front End Audio. Slid in at the last minute under the wire on their holiday sale.
They are backordered so hoping Mark has some extra elves at work in the shop.

Ordered a Wunder CM7 FET S…made a low offer and they took it. Damn I’m so broke now 😂
Interesting listened to samples I liked it more than the glass tube CM7 GTS (or whatever it’s called)

Paid the invoice for my Alice 828 Mk III console with 8 channels of Class A pres and Baxandall EQs. Had it modded to have the outputs post-Fader and EQ. They also let me choose the fader and knob colors Outstanding customer service and incredibly reasonable price for a British made to order console with OEP/Carnhill input transformers. Proof will be in the pudding, should arrive in a couple weeks. $3200 total, after all modifications, fees, and shipping, with a couple Tshirts thrown in no less. Link to Alice <- If anyone is interested.

I received it today, and it's very close to the TF 08 that John reviewed -- maybe the same. It might not be a ribbon, but it's certainly voiced in a similar way. I did an A/B vocal test against my SA87 and they have absolutely nothing in common. The SA87 sounds like a telephone next to it.
The TF 10 is big, lush, and smooth. You could pretty much just put a tilt EQ on this thing and nail it -- as expected, you can hammer this thing with EQ without nastiness.
What a cool mic!

Not directly familiar with the SA87. But sounds perfect then for ELO's "Telephone Line". I do expect any of Mark's microphones to sound exceptional. Congrats! Chris
