RND 5032 old red style
Thing is amazing - it makes snares sound exactly how I hear them in my head, and glues dynamic signals naturally while bringing them forward in the mix

Remember to calibrate the meter with the little set-screw between the input and output knobs!

I know exactly what you are talking about! I really like using the RND Portico series stuff, it's all very good

FabFilter Pro-MB...really saving the day on the vocal of a record I'm mixing right now. Best Service has it at a reasonable price right now.

To go along with all of the limiter / no limiter / mix bus talk...I picked up the Elevate bundle from Newfangled Audio. $99 right now. The saturator and eq are pretty impressive. Haven't fully jumped in on the transient control section or the full suite, but looking forward to it.
As an aside, one of the demo videos for EQuivocate used a pretty out there, late 90s ambient dub techno track that I was familiar with for a Match EQ function. I was pretty impressed to see a company use music that experimental, but more importantly the software was able to capture a big chunk of the excitement and aggressive filtering of the (best-in-genre) original in just a few seconds. Spectral processing is really something else!

Decided to make the trade of my Prophet 5 that's (mostly) working for a Urei LA-3A and cash to my buddy. I wanted him to have it...and I don't want to put any more money into the Prophet 5 trying to get it fully working. And, original LA-3A's are one of my favorite compressors.

I got a Dunlop X 8 volume / expression pedal, a Catalinbread Katzenkonig tonebender/rat fuzzstortion thing, a Line 6 DL4 MK II (really neat!), and today I'll get my Kluson vintage style metal tuners to complete the spruce-up of my Epiphone Les Paul Standard, will also be cutting a custom bone nut to complete the transformation (little things, not big things.)

Nice! What's the DWA (Dan Wiley Audio I presume) box at top left? One of your famous Wolfboxes?

Nice! What's the DWA (Dan Wiley Audio I presume) box at top left? One of your famous Wolfboxes? Yeah you got the DWA right. No this is not the Wolfbox, it's a "product" that no one has bit on just yet, people seem to want fuzz faces, harmonic percolators recently. This one is a clean boost pedal. The history of the circuit goes something like Z Vex Super Hard On -> Landgraff Boost -> Buddho. I just made some small "tweaks" capacitors and whatnot that I like the sound of, very low noise custom PCB layouts I made. It's my favorite boost. I've built half a dozen or more "famous" or "legendary" clean boosts over the years, and for me, "this is the one." I guess people aren't that excited about something this simple all the time, but I think it's wonderful. Refined, functional, quiet, whatever, great sound. It's like mic preamps, conversion, digital EQ. Clean is not clean. You can get uber-picky with this type of thing, and I did. To illustrate that point, I have a second "version" with BC Blue / Mallory capacitors instead of the Nichicons, that sounds totally different, more aggressive/assertive/bright/fat/hot. This one is sort of full and balanced sounding, with the parts selection.

I hope you measured the capacitance of both the Nichicons and the BC Blue/Mallory caps to rule out tolerance variations from the timbre change

I picked up an Ibanez 335ish Artcore at the local retail spot and had to have it. Crazy quality for the money, I am very happy with it.

Audio-Scape 76D. Looking forward to trying it out in the next session. I don't usually compress on the way in, but this might be just the thing to make final mixes a little easier. Just a little control on vocals might help.

Sad.... I had a mega built up D&R OrionX power supply that Ralph Skelton @ Pacific Innovative beefed up and customized for me. Weighed 75+ lbs. Spent a ton of money on it. Sold it as a spare power supply when I sold the console. Makes me sad thinking about it. It was A M A Z I N G sounding. Open and fast, punchy, huge, mega bottom, etc. If I still had it I would absolutely use it to power my 500 racks. ALL of em.

I just bought DSM V3 because Paul Frindle himself recommended it as a tool to emulate the progressive treble softening effect of analog tape. I look forward to seeing what it can do
