I'm thinking of getting a pallet jack to move it from the shelf to the amp stand. The miracle of hydraulics! :-) So, Wiz, what do you call a pallet jack on your side of the planet? Road crew 8)

I just picked up another Telefunken v676 mic pre module on ebay. $153.00 in "untested" condition. I already have 3 of these racked up and they are absolutely brilliant - so having a 4th in there will make everything nice and even haha. All it needed was 2 transistors that I got on ebay for about 3 bucks. Recapped it just so I wouldn't have to worry about it in a few years and it sounds great.
I also picked up 4 Quad 8 cards for mic pres - these sound similar to the 676, slightly more detailed. Pumped to get them put together.
Rogers 20" kick and 12" rack. Still looking for a 14" floor to fill out a smaller sounding kit. Apparently they are pretty rare for the era that these are, havent found anything reasonably priced...
15" Paste 602 Modern Essential hats. Things of beauty!!
I've gotta get some of Jeff's eq's soon. My pair of VP-28's need some EQ's in the family

Today I got another pair of these: They're called the Uher M534. The UHER mics were seemingly an East German manufacturer, a rebranding of factories that would have belonged to the Nazi state's mic companies - so cheaper housing, but a lot of the same capsules (AKG, Sennheiser). Seemingly the Uher M534 is related to the 421 capsule but in a smaller housing, though some say it's closer related to the AKG D1__ series capsules. Either way the bass response is fairly good and there's no strong presence peak - which is something that I felt I needed in some cardioid dynamics. I paid €90 incl. p&p and they sound great on toms.

Another purchase just in - Oktava MK220. Dual diapraghm LDC, variable polar pattern and 10dB pad. Got it because on the Card/Omni patterns it has a dip in the high mids and has a boost around 10K. Should be great for female vocalists. I'll let you know how this one is, tracking our next EP over the weekend. Debating using it as a room mic, for the front of the kick or for the bass cab.

Uher was from West Germany, based in Munich. Best known for their tape recorders which were pretty popular in Germany from the 1950s to the 1970s. That Uher company was founded by Edmond Uher in Munich in 1952, nothing to do with any Nazi companies, sorry to disappointed you. Those mics came with the tape recorders mostly.

Attachment Deleted I received these beauties last week and they are amazing so far on acoustic guitar. I have been so impressed with them I just ordered the Soyuz 017 and it is supposed to be delivered on Friday. It will be a fun weekend.

Traded in my P bass & Tele ( and a bunch of misc mics) for a Ric 6 stringer. Just ordered a crimson audio mogaines from front end audio today with the 15% off deal contemplating picking up a champ style amp once ive paid off my car insurance You make me think on something . .. , is there such thing as a 6-string Ricky bass? Or even a 5-string?

Thanks Jesse jcoutu1 - that string spacing on the custom job looks MUCH too narrow for me to able to play it!

Funny... are you guys ashamed to mention all the plugs yiv brought? ;-) I don't think anyone is ashamed to mention plugs. I expect that everyone here uses them. When I pick up another eventful plug worth a mention, you'll hear about it. My last pickup was bx_single probably 2 months ago for $19. Haven't even tried it out yet. Mainly purchased for when I'm learning a song in the office at lunch and want to be quiet.

I just got my new home studio gear delivered yesterday and I am currently floating on the "new gear cloud" :-)
Adam A7X monitors, UAD Apollo 8, AKG C314 Stereo pair, Octava Mk 012 stereo pair, Avantone Mixcubes. I use Logic with a Mac Book Pro.
Phase two (maybe in 6 months) will be to add the Audient ASP880 for more inputs and some more mics.
If I don't get some decent recordings and mixes with that lot .. it'll be all my own fault.

Seems you're right. They're still great, however. Set them up tonight and it's just the easiest tom sound to record I've had in a very long time. No high mid clack to worry about, just a gentle dip around the 2nd and 3rd overtone seems to do it.
