It's a much too long and twisted tale to say how I arrived at this point, but I'm pleased to be trying out a pair of ATC SCM45A's. They would replace a pair of Focal Twin6be's.
Man, they are eye and ear-opening. I'm impressed.

I have had a few original Neve console parted out preamps and Neve clones over the years but I never had a chance to try a Vintech. I really wanted something with EQ and the Warm Audio I had wasnt quite what I wanted in a Neve EQ. So when the opportunity arose to get a Vintech X73 I thought its now or never. It arrived today so the first thing I do is take pictures and send them back to the seller this case - Vintech themselves, to let them know that the trip over the ocean made it safe and sound. Now to plug it in and see how it sounds - but time has gotten away and thats a job for tomorrow. 1 by BEANAT19, on Flickr

Picked up two more Grace M101 preamps last Friday. Should have reported this earlier . . .
Would have literally been a bargain at twice the price, so you do what you gotta do. Cha-ching.

That's great to hear! I think I remember reading you had Apollo at one point, right? How do you feel the two compare?

I have not worked with the X series Apollo, so I can't say, but the silver and black series, meh. I much prefer a dedicated converter. Lavry knows how to make a converter. I'm currently using Dangerous Converts and I'm staying put for now.

Musician's Friend sucked me in by sending me a "we haven't seen you in a awhile 20% off code" - which surprisingly worked on some relatively big ticket items. I picked up the SSL UF8 daw controller. Man I really like it. I know it's probably overpriced but hey 20% off. I really enjoy mixing on it and it works well. Not perfect but it really does make a difference. Still trying to break the habit of automatically reaching for the trackball but that will come. Impulsively added a Gretsch G5260T Baritone with Bigsby So Much Fun!! Setup pretty darn well right out of the box and it's inspiring. Makes me try different things on the guitar which is always good. Really sweet for not very much $$.

Finished my first 100% self made pedal (that is, with printed circuit boards). I've done a lot of stripboard and point to point builds (dozens) but this is the next level with custom PCBs. Might have a few like this for sale soon. It's a high-fidelity boost pedal.

I have a similar Gretsch, but mines not baritone. Mine was made in China, but for the price and playability and sound, stock. You seriously can’t beat it. I cheated a little and took it to my guy to set it up, my goodness incredible playing!!! Now I’m interested in a baritone! I recently recorded some guitar tracks and my guitar player friend couldn’t believe it was a $749 retail guitar. I got it for mid $300’s because the music store was having a going out of business sale. We just got done tracking his $5000 PRS Custom into a greenback loaded cab, we used the same rig with both guitar. We also tracked with a very expensive Suhr thin line f-hole with Corina wood. I still preferred the Gretsch. lol. I am currently looking for a USA Gretsch Duo Jet. Michael Beinhorn was talking highly about the sound of these guitars when he was tracking Soundgarden. I’m sure SoundGarden had the USA built models though…lol

congrats Guitar its super addictive, be careful! Thanks, Matt, I never would have started this if not for that message at the beginning of the pandemic times, "Hey, any interest in a 1073 PCB?" and all the learning that followed, so thank you. Right now I'm trying to decide on input and output capacitors for this boost, (Nichicon and Vishay BC Blue sound WAY different. Or is it the input caps? Mallory / generic polypropylene / Orange drop) Then I have a list of next PCBs... dangerous like you said. But my rookie luck was that my first two PCBs work just fine and are very quiet. The layouts could use some updates, but not bad for a first run. Pretty inspiring as a matter of fact.

Bought an AKG C414B-ULS off Facebook. I have a pair that are modified by Jim Williams...sort of forget what they sound like stock! Planning on using it for toms and general utility stuff.

Just bought a Mac Mini refurb for $300, late 2012 Quad Core i7 2.6 with 16GB RAM. Decided it's time for a back-up machine that stays in the mix room with the amount of off-site work I'm doing on the MBP. That's pretty cheap insurance against down time and I have a second PT license that wasn't doing anything.

Just got a pair of APS Klasik 2020 monitors. After years of making do with JBLs, Rockits, Presonus, IK, Chinese knock off ribbons, etc etc it was time to step up a bit. I've only had them a day so it's way to early to be an evangelist for the product. But man do they sound nice--a much bigger upgrade than I imagined.
