First steps combining Launcher and Focusrite Air Button. I like it!
Left (2nd Clip) example, along with the other (Just "Air Button") vocal example. On page 249/last page. Chris

I finally joined the audioscape fan and picked up a Sta. I've been using the Arturia plug all over the place and needed to try the hardware. Looking forward to clamping a bass down while tracking.

Phoenix N8 DI. What a great way to clean up the synth and mellotron setup. No more dangling cables and finding two DIs when you need it to be stereo. Sounds great too.

Ehrlund EHR-E. Interested in trying it on toms. The price was right...I think! Seems like their microphones have terrible resale value. I also bought this turquoise Epiphone Casino with the thought I'd resell it because its actually pretty fun to play, but I ordered some Novak P90's because the stock pick ups are way too hot for my taste.

Also took the AudioScape plunge a couple weeks ago with the OptoComp. Now that I've used it a few times on some real mixes I'm ready to comment.
We're gonna need a bigger rack.

My further adventures with the Focusrite "Air Button"...
I learned that if you don't have one of the Focusrites that have this feature, you can closely simulate it via Parametric EQ. This is gone over, on Julian Krause's recent YouTube video where he demonstrates this. 230 Hertz and 3.5 KHz specifically. Chris

I always imagined the Air button being much higher up. 230hz is “air”?

I was surprised too. IMHO there's more going on, than my thumbnail sketch. Including the real Transformers, used in the Focusrite Consoles. That the "Air Button" feature attempts to approach. There seem to be some simularities, between my (in 2nd Tenor) voice and Ricky Nelson's for example. In terms of strong Low Mids/mellow Bright overall, but not keening tone. Can make it challenging to cut through a full Mix. I remember reading they usually boosted around 3KHz, on Ricky's classic 50/60's records, to help do this. So Julian's suggestion of 3.5 KHz might be related-at least on me. Well a 47 helped Ricky a little too! Chris P.S. IIRC Ward preferred other pre's than the ISA One ($650), around that price range.

Demand for the Opto and V-Comp+ (now the + is the model) is surging. Just wait until you have a MEQ. Indispensible on drums. Just running the toms through them zero'ed is amazing. The tone is time-aligned, every frequency is and mud removal is a piece of cake. Man, I love those things. I only have 3 . . . I need more. I've purchased a lot of audioscape products and am totally sold on the products. I don't get stuff for free.

I’m sure Doug as some stuff most of us have no idea how much we want yet😁. Besides why couldn’t we make the road trip as well ?

Won't happen at this year's Bashful NAMM as our block is full with AS, Eric of Locomotive and matt@IAA but maybe there's a booth nearby! Or maybe Doug EmRR can come visit! And that's how the story starts . . .

I've looked at that actually... but for me the problem is that I'd really need a stereo set and I just don't have the room for another rack. That's why I have my hardware EQ in my 500 box. I sure wish I had room for two Pultec types though. Similar with the V-Comp. I use the UAD 670 plugin all the time, but to do that with hardware is like 6u, not to mention the need to cool it.

For a gentle slope that continues for a while upward. (no pun was hurt in the making of this sentence BTW) Also I have learned to add the Launcher, when you want a more assertive/cut through a Mix vocal sound. In the practice recording I did today (audio clip below), I was aiming for a sweeter, more lyrical sound. EV767a>Scarlett w/Air Button on. Intro to Classics IV "Stormy"... Chris
