Curious to hear your thoughts on the SPX. I've got the DPX here myself. I’ll definitely share some clips once I take it for a spin. Hoping it’ll beat my Wunder... we’ll see! Are you using the A/D card with your DPX? I’d be curious to try that against my Lynx. No. Just going into my Apollo.

Got my AS 76D Friday, too many outside chores this weekend to have time to check it out yet and working next few days. Will try to do some comps with my 76F later this week.

Supro Blues King 12 that I ordered during Sweetwater’s black friday sale was backordered. It came today. Of course I don’t need it but that’s never stopped anyone. Update on mine... I frickin love it. Great amp for what Ive been working on lately... Psych folk, alt rock, and surfy stuff. Really dynamic amp, and has nice cleans too. Utilizing your guitar volume knob is really important for this amp. An ideal recording amp I have found really versatile, and artists comment on how good it sounds.

Well boys after ordering barefoot footprint 02’s via vintage king in February and being told the wait is July.....I found em in stock on alto music ( which hooked me up with a killer price on my RME 802 years ago) and just had to do it! ... now what to do with these Yamaha hs7’s?

I’ve had my ProReplicas Rev A and H now for about a month or two, they are solid. I A/Bed the Rev A with UAs plug in and the difference was discernible and noticeably there. The PR felt finished and sounded like the real classic compression I’m so used to hearing, it kept the vocal consistent and upfront and full. The UA was good, but the vocal was becoming lost and not as polished sounding and upfront in the mix, it felt weaker for lack of a better word and more pumpy, just not as natural, it definitely left the vocal needing further treatment. Thanks ProReplicas!

Thanks ProReplicas! Since its arrival here (a few months ago) and my subsequent installation of UTC 0-12 and a UA 5002 transformers, the ProReplicas is the first thing I turn to when I want more mix-friendly midrange emphasis. Especially for vocals. Not a one-size-fits-all, but I'm rarely disappointed. Plugins certainly have their place, but I'm not quite sure any currently modeled emulations are up to the standard this analog presents.

Lawson L47 - I finally got a big boy tube mic! It’s the MKI version so no swappable capsules and I think it employs a rarer tube. Damn, this thing smokes!
Lawson L47FET - I’ve never used a real 47FET so I can’t compare but it is my new kick reso mic and sometimes my bass cab mic. Have had some weird overloading in front of a loud guitar amp I didn’t quite understand, though.
LM402 - after all the snares I’ve bought in the last year or so, it’s finny that I’ve never owned one of these! I had a 5” deep one for a while but sold it. I haven’t gotten to really let her rip yet, but excited to
Marblewood stave snare - my first stave drum! Have the shell and lugs but waiting forever for USPS to get my drum factory direct order to me!

Not that I needed another instrument to drag around on tours, but I picked up an Eastman mandocello. Might make for some interesting new songs. I always buy instruments for the inspiration they give me. This should match nicely with my mandolin, Irish bouzouki and mandola. It arrives tomorrow. I also just got a Kavanjo banjo pickup/head. I'm looking forward to trying that out. I've heard that it can get the banjo loud with no feedback. Been ok with the fishman rare earth but do have feedback issues at some venues.

I really want one of those mandocellos! The Kavanjo is great, I have it on my 6-string banjo. If anything, it sounds too good! I got a MXR 10-band EQ so I can cut lows and emphasize the banjo-ish frequencies.

I wish you tons of enjoyment! What is your Irish Bazouki tuned at ? GDAE? (I have three octave mandos - but I have not had a bazouki in a while - and that was GDAE.) Enjoy - it is great to have the whole mando family. (I actually saw a mando bass once! And apparently there is some sort of soprano type mando running around!)

This little monster just took place of pride next to the laptop:
Have only just begun to use, but the DAC is pretty impressive, and the build quality is stronger than some of the other MOTU interfaces.
I was worried when I saw the demolished shipping and product boxes, but it's clean and working.
Life feels a lot bigger than gear right now, but maybe that will be a good influence when it comes to tracking some test material.

My Irish bouzouki is tune gGdDAAEE So it's pretty similar to an octave mandolin but has octave string in the first two courses. The mandocello is a bear to play. Those are like bass strings on the low C. I've seen some guys modify the but to make it easier to play. I may do that. It's a wide neck

I love the octave differential on the first two courses. It adds a lot of beauty to the sound. I should really try this on one of my octaves! I understand the mandocello is not easy! But it is probably a worthy challenge. Enjoy!!!!

After several piezos and mics, I find the Kavanjo to be liberating. It sounds great and resists, but doesn't eliminate, feedback.
It's like a humbucker on a hollowbody -- but a much hollower hollowbody.

I finally got the Kavanjo head installed over the weekend. It definitely changed the sound of the banjo a bit. I'd always felt it was a touch too bright and the new head calmed it down a bit. It will be interesting to see how it does on shows... once those happen again.
