Gyraf G22 - just checking it out today. It is not going back. Beautiful. Plenty of detail and a nice euphonic tone that is not overbearing. Great flexibility in settings. I have not figured out the M/S idea on it yet - that will be my next step. It is expensive, but very versatile. Easy resetting with tiny little steps on the controls. Cool meters. I was expecting it to have more color all the time - and it can have a lot of color - it is just a matter of settings. And quiet too! Ok, enough of a report. AB, which other vari mu's have you tried on mix buss? I'm thinking about a Pendulum Es8/6386, Manley Vari-mu, or a Highland Dyn BG1.. Gyraf seems interesting. I have the Highland BG1 and love it. I tried the Pendulum 6386 and it was on the clean side to me, but I have read where others like it a lot and my experience was many years ago and frankly it may have more to do with me than the unit. As to the Manley Vari-mu, i just did not like its tone for what I wanted, but once again, many, many others love it. So I would not want someone to toss it out of consideration based on my subjective taste. As to the Gyraf, it just has so many options and yet is user friendly! It is not as heavy to lift as I thought it would be, so what they have going on in there is beyond me, but I love it.

Barfed out $275 in synthesizer parts. But feeling optimistic since the Prophet 5 turned on! I also ordered a few things for an Opus 3 that has a broken slide pot and switch.

Bought a German Artistic Fidelity by Acousence 191 a/d converter. Is it the world's best sound? I think that it is.

Great new book to read on my birthday. Love reading these types of books but you never get the time to sit down and get into them without being interrupted By something. Anyone else read this audio book?

I rebuilt a broken V7X (kids) into a phantom powered cardioid small condenser mic with a Primo capsule. Sounds pretty good! This will be my pseudo-studio vocal mic for beach trips and etc, and acoustic guitar sounds good too. Better than an SM57 for these types of sources. Total cost under $30, not including the donor body. Handling noise is very good, it's very quiet with self noise, and handles a decent SPL although I haven't really pushed that limit yet to test it. Needs EQ in the mix because it's not overly bright to start with, pretty flat frequency response. Attachments:

Hit the PA Easter sale and got the Diezel Herbert and bx_shredspread, time to lay down a face melting Country Crock jingle.

Bought a 1979 Lab Series L9 amp on Saturday. Have L4 bass, L11 and L9 guitar amps, now, but still haven't gotten an L5 like I had in high school. Also picked up one of these... 24" kick drum outer heads, as a wall decoration Yes! I picked up an L5 late last year. It was my 1st "good" amp many years ago and I got a great deal. Awesome under-rated amps.

Just got this Black Lion Audio Revolution 2x2 interface. Starting with a simple listening test, headphone amp is strong, DAC is very good, lots of bass coming through. It's a little more "exciting" sounding than the Topping DX7s. Not much to say yet it's only been here for a few minutes. Attachments:

Decided to look into another stereo bus compressor. Pretty much decided on an API 2500 - ended up pulling the trigger on a great deal for a pair of tonelux TX5C’s. Also ordered a pair of the Stam 312’s he had in stock. Thinking audioscape V3As might be on the horizon cause why not fill up another 3U with a 10 space?

Today I'm getting a Motu M4 which I will directly compare to the BLA Revolution. There's a strong chance that the Revolution is going back, I'm not totally sold on the sound, and the drivers aren't 100% reliable.
This has to be the end of the search. Until I can get something like a Babyface Pro or a Symphony Desktop, but that's an entirely different price point. I've been through just about every major small interface on the market by now. A good many of them, anyway.

I’ve been on a bit of a gear bender lately. Everything here is pretty new to me: Also picked up the AudioScape bus comp. Discovering AudioScape has not been great for my wallet 😀. But recordings are sounding pretty sweet.

Did you try the Audient?

Anyone else read this audio book? View AttachmentI caved... http://instagr.am/p/CNdRoTEB-hF Well done. I was not sure what to expect when i bought the book. But i found it fascinating that at the back of the book he dedicated 30 pages which includes the last 25’ish of his yearly sales records of sold prices and who he sold gear to. I would think that Dan and Brent Avrill would be best of buddies with the enormous amounts of gear that Dan sold to him over the years. i only skimmed over these but i will be looking to see if i see any familiar faces from this forum. There are quite a few famous people he sold a lot of gear to. Its a nice read. And you can pick it up any time just to read a a chapter or two. thanks for posting.
