I’m officially putting a pause on things for a bit. The ride has been fantastic but I have to deal with reality for a bit. [a href=" http://instagram.com/p/CGGW-egBIyb [/a]

Got a 34” LG computer Monitor for my recording computer. Tried using a TV Monitor but could never get things to fit “right” on the screen no matter how many different things I tried. While it could be user error, there was no need to not toss some money at the problem.

While it could be user error, there was no need to not toss some money at the problem. This happens. If you're on a Mac, bring up the monitor control panel and use the 'underscan' function to make it fit. EDIT FOR MORE INFO: Fun facts, if you're driving the monitor off a Thunderbolt (Mini-DV) port, and running an HDMI cable to it, you'r not actually driving the monitor as much as you're supplying the 'tv' with a signal and therefore it's doing its own work, so to speak... you can run a 90" TV off it, if you were so inclined. The resolution usually comes out to 1600x900, as far as I can tell.

More fun info:
I bought a stupid cheap 43” 4K TV last Amazon day (it was like $118) and had a heck of a time using it on my 2013 MacPro. Found out you need an ACTIVE mini-DV to HDMI adapter to get TVs to behave (they are like $15) additionally you can use free utilities like EasyRez to make the monitors display at whatever resolution/ratio/refresh rate you want. I actually found the refresh rate was causing more issues than the resolution

Actually the one I bought takes its power from the Buss (assuming it maybe uses a pin the unpowered ones don’t?) This is the one I bought www.amazon.com/dp/B00PJ3LSIG/ref=cm_sw_r_sms_api_i_QVYGFbG1KC6QW

Just bought a cheap shade top Yamaha acoustic second hand for $75. It was brand new. I got it specifically for using it as a Nashville high strung and couldn't be happier. Funny thing though, after playing it for two days, when I went back to my regular guitar, the strings felt like telephone cables, ha! Attachments:

I just scored a 24" Slingerland bass drum, circa mid 50's for a very good price on Facebook Marketplace. Good deals online are hard to find these days but this drum was an exception. I love buying vintage drums that still have their old calf heads on them--means they haven't been bought and sold many times because of being a dud. My plan is to buy some modern heads for it, and if I love the sound I'll build a retro kit around it with other used drums. Regardless, it was worth the 2 hour drive to NJ to pick it up!

^ Cool find.. I have an old Slingerland bass drum from the same type of era with the Calf heads which i use quite a bit. On topic, i acquired a cut down SSL G series mixer 16 channel /32 input with the original mix compressor etc.. for free..
A friend has sadly had to close his space, didn't renew the lease and is taking a couple of years out to study and
didn't want to pay the storage fees. Haven't used a G in many years, it's been much fun the past couple of weeks..
I've just noticed on the left this is my 224 post. Is it a Larc sign ?

Not audio gear, but just got a Lumix G7. I always laugh at myself for being such a cork sniffer about music gear, when I've been a videographer for almost 10 years and barely give a shit about what photo/video gear I use. I'm more than happy to use budget stuff like this Panasonic. A camera from 2015 that does 4K and comes with two very respectable lenses for $600? Sign me up. Attachments:

The wife and I closed on our house this morning. The house is on an acre of property, includes a giant barn, and is 30 mins from NYC. Couldn’t be happier. Pics of studio build out to come in the future!
