A pair of SVS SB 3000’s 13in powered subs with DSP showed up here while I was in the hospital on demo. I don’t think they are going to go back. My custom 10in Volt based boxes go a little deeper and are a little better in every regard, but $1K each all in one box with DSP controlled Via an IPhone app that has no problem with multiple subs. Short of a pair of big JL audio Fathoms this the best all in one sub I have heard. Having way to much fun. Hospital? realgearonline.com/thread/new/8Figured it was better to explain in another thread

AA makes great mics for their price range. Their CM49 was really special. I also enjoyed their CM67, which is kind of a bright U67. They will definitely do the job until you can get in a higher end realm of Neumann, FleA, and Bock.

I've been wanting to try the 611DYN for a long time (I didn't yet have a hardware expander or VCA comp), and I think they're keepers. Bought used from two different people, but the same board revisions. I just wish they were a little better outfitted for the MSRP, but given that SSL was trying to stay true to the original E series and that they're also like having two modules in one, I get why they're limited in the ways that they are
The gate threshold was very slightly different between them when they first arrived, but luckily the trimpots correspond with the same ones on the XR418 module, which are documented in the XRack service manual, so they were easy to adjust to match more closely.
Excuse the gaps...one of the idiosyncrasies of the RND racks is they try to leave room to account for non-standard/inconsistent module dimensions:

But, like I said in another thread just a few minutes ago, I could have combined those funds and bought one really good mic instead of two sorta average ones.

This one is probably closer to questionable decision making, but I found out that someone literally around the corner from me was selling their RMX16 500 for what was debatably a very reasonable price. Having never used an original, and not having UAD for the pure software implementation, I figured I should give it a spin. It takes up a frustrating three modules worth of width, where it seems like a slight tightening of the front panel button spacing and shrinking the logo would have easily allow for a two space unit. The only reasons I can see for taking up so much room are heat management (it runs pretty warm), and serving as billboard advertising for AMS/Neve. This is probably news to only me, but after experimenting with the unit and digging into the manual, I found that the filter worked differently than I had initially assumed. It changes how each room algorithm behaves, or a per-algorithm/per-value basis. The same is true of some of the other parameters, depending on the room algorithm. To that end, they also appear to have preserved some of the quirks of the original units (have a look at the Caution entry for the Ambience algorithm in the manual). Anyway, after spending a couple of weeks with it and using it for a couple of small projects, I get the appeal of the sound.

Is this stereo in, stereo out? Mono in, stereo out?

Is this stereo in, stereo out? Mono in, stereo out? It has one input and two outputs. For most of the presets, that means mono in -> stereo out. But, there are a few presets that are mono in -> mono out or mono in -> dual mono out where the results are different/unique per channel. For clarity, here are some examples of that last bit, from the manual: For the REVERSE 2 preset: For the DELAY preset: Here's a link to the manual, for more information: www.ams-neve.com/ekmps/shops/d3514b/resources/Other/rmx-16-500-series-installation-guide-issue-1-1-.pdf

Have you looked at the component spacing on the panel INSIDE?
At any rate, that's really cool. I'm jealous!

Um, I would guess probably not. Have you looked at the component spacing on the panel INSIDE? From what I can see through the vents, it looks like there's a fair amount of slack space between the boards. Next time I go rearranging the modules, I'll see if I can get a decent picture. I should take this opportunity to mention that the build quality and finish seem quite nice, and the display is sharper and easier on the eyes than my camera is capable of capturing. At any rate, that's really cool. I'm jealous! Much appreciated.

Picked up a Sigma Art 24mm f/1.4 prime lens a couple weeks ago before a wedding shoot. Have used it several times now, and it’s quite nice! It lets in sooo much light. We’ve got a Sigma Art 35mm f/1.4 here, also, and colors look completely different through the two lenses. Probably going to sell the Sigma 35mm now, even though I do love it. We have two other 35mm primes in-house, and though I love how the Sigma 35 looks, it’s the least practical of the 3 35mm primes we’ve got.

I got a Haunting Mids fuzz and an empty Vox Tonebender 1960's enclosure that I will ASAP be building up into a recreation of a Vox Tonebender, super excited about that one. I have all the parts on hand but the effort still needs to happen.

Oh, and . . . Bought two more 421s off our friend @warzone Warren at Zen Pro as they're having a fantastic sale on them and I had to replace two that were stolen from the studio. Hard lesson learned on that one. The price right now for these is hard to argue with. I was really considering picking up a pair, just to have around. But I never have loved the off axis response. I'm on the fence...
