I am continuing my quest to add enough high-quality mic stands. I don't know why I allowed myself to suffer with such garbage stands for so many years. So in addition to the Latch Lake 1100 I added a few weeks back, I picked up a K&M 210/9 late last week. I already love it enough that I ordered two more from the same 210 family yesterday. BUT - the two I ordered yesterday came from the Used section at B&H. Man, they were really good deals on a "9+" and a "10" used rating. Like almost half off. There is a different kind of satisfaction for me in buying equipment like this: Hardware vs. software or plugins. Heck, there's a different kind of satisfaction for me in buying something like a stand vs. a compressor. Something I'll really be putting my hands on frequently, and directly relating to capturing a performance. I bought a bunch of those K&M 210/9 stands years ago. Can't hold any kind of weight. At all. Anything bigger than an SDC and you get droopy boom arms. Maybe I just got a bad batch. Anyone know a remedy? ive got the latch lake for LDCs, but one question is: do you need to replace the rubber donut grommet things in the boom mechanism? They do wear out.

I just bought a used Mapex Dillinger snare. 5.5x14 maple. Didn't really need it but the price on it was good and it can do something other than what my pearl and ludwig bronze and aluminum snares can. I picked up the Pearly Sensitone Phosphor Bronze a couple weeks ago. Found a good deal on it. I wanted something like brass but a little drier sounding. The build quality is excellent and it sounds great. Great snare. For a non-drummer, I'm really starting to get a collection of snares. The Mapex is #5. I know it is their mid-line but I didn't want to spend lots of money on a maple snare for the few occasions I will use it. I almost pulled the trigger on their Exterminator snare but went with the shallower Dillinger instead. Biggest question is why they pick such dumb names for the snares?

Those Latch Lakes are beasts! I bought a couple (expensive!) a couple years ago. Definitely on another level. They are bulky and hard to move around, but those suckers are definitely not going to droop. I’ll check out the grommets. I’d love to fix them

Both things I have purchased lately are on back order. The United Studio Techs 47Fet and an Arturia Keylab II controller. Can't wait until they arrive.

Boonar delay pedal out for delivery. Digital Binson Echorec copy.
Edit: It has arrived. Was supposed to be a bstock but appears to be brand new. Nice! Played with it for 10 minutes or so and it does what it says on the tin. Gonna be a fun toy.
Cheers, Geoff

A couple of trs to trs snakes coming to finally get things wired into my interface and patch bay. And, other than maybe a Silver Bullet, I think I might be good for a while. Well, and maybe an @audiscape Vcomp and a used beater tele or G&L bluesboy to hopefully start playing out again but then, .... then I think I might be good. The audioscape V-Comp is a WAY better buy than an opto. You can achieve the same gain riding and add secret sauce to the sound! Mwhahahaha - gwlee7 we won't stop you! For ME personally - while the V-COMP and OPTO are both AMAZING on very similar sources - they both do the gain riding thing differently - the OPTO adds a certain "elegance" and has somewhat more of a "stamp" to it's compression character whereas the V, you can do 25dB+ of compression, get no compression artifacts but gain this awesome, secret sauce kind of OAKY flavor.... OAK... what a word to describe sonics

I picked up the DDD from SKnote but am non-plussed. The input knob does what? and the switches seem not do change the brigade of the bucket. A bit sloppy. Maybe I'm deafer than a doorknob, but still...maybe I am just accustomed to the tweakability of other plugins.

You get a Memory Man, a Space Echo (always wanted one), and some newfangled one I haven't tried yet but have.

Caved on Plugin Alliance's sale after ignoring it all month, DrumXchanger for $10 today. Also picked up IK's Clavitube instrument for SampleTank 4 last week for $15, I'm a sucker for keys that give you the pre-speaker sounds for re-amping.

Recently grabbed a Vanguard V44s. Just got it ceiling mounted so it's out of the way and always ready for mid-size mixing the drums... imgur.com/a/pHQIX9Y

I think Chris/Audioscape is a bit out on a limb with his oaky sonic metaphors, breathing too much solder smoke I think ?
Above, tell me more about the Arturia keylab ii decision/ why it and what daw are you using ?

Nice. Very curious to hear about how that Vanguard V44S works out. Fantastic on overhead! I’m partial to XY micing so it gets the job done beautifully.

Had a pair for awhile, but just restored and in operation. Have used as mix bus amps and also tracked vocals with one. Amazingly well matched response for 1930's electronics. These are a short-loaded version of the program amp used later in the 76 series consoles. Still have 80 years of cigarette smoke to get off the front chrome so it shines properly. Truly incredible. It's mind boggling. Almost makes me speechless but I had to say something.
