Does anyone know if new RE16’s sound like vintage RE15/16/10/11? It’s interesting that they still make them. Maybe this should be a new thread. I've owned several of the RE15/16/10/11 and the newer RE18. I've also used newer RE16s and felt they sounded the same. I still own 3 of the slightly older RE16s (~1998) that I got a really good price on.
They are damn-near indestructible. I like my mics to be pretty, but I'd bet that an old, beat-to-fuck, RE16 probably sounds just as good as new.
Disentegrating foam will F one up. Just like an RE20 baby rattle.

Got my CAPI 500 series Extension Jig mostly assembled. Then I realized I soldered the right angle connector neatly and carefully to the exact wrong side of the board.
Other than that a ton of small components and parts.
The really exciting stuff is coming on Monday I hope, Sound Devices 302 and a Motu M4.

1959 Telefunken "Hi-Fi" console. Wonder if it has any salvagable parts. Amp still works, maybe some tubes?

Looks like it’s in pretty good shape. You only trash ones that are rough. Or karma gets you.

My Grandma had an old "tube" radio, probably stuffed with plenty 'o VF-14's! Chris

Forgot one more thing from the last CAPI shipment: Mogaine. I like it! It makes a 57 sound real good, and it even makes this crusty old D1000M sound lofi in a good way instead of a bad way like usual. I'm hearing all kinds of distant ambience from out my window, with a dynamic, completely off axis. Crazy.
Also, I knew I was going to like the VP28s, but these BT50s are solid gold! Why aren't people flipping out over these?

Mogaine? I remember an old girlfriend, who had me take that. I only ended up with an extra Hairball. Chalk another one up to comb filtering... Chris

I've been considering getting one of those Mogaines. I sometimes use a cloudlifter for things like strings but I like the transformer idea.

I love Entwistle's style when when stretching out, like Live At Leeds. Chris
