I've had one for years. It doesn't do anything but level the signal. It's perfect for that! But remember it's a VCA and they can be tricky sometimes.

Couldn't help myself. This thing sounds AWESOME. I've had one for years. It doesn't do anything but level the signal. It's perfect for that! But remember it's a VCA and they can be tricky sometimes. Yeah, I'm really loving how transparent it is. Most of my tone is coming from the mic/preamp, so I really just want the compressor to be kind of invisible. I still think I want another faster comp to squash peaks a bit more, but I'm super happy with this thing.

For casual listening just pulled the trigger on a Mass Drop Grace $80 DAC and a pair of Monoprice electrostatic headphones from EBay.
I figure I can let the kid play with this system and Keep the STAX safe while still enjoying the sound of ESL’s. The only real knock on the Monoprice Monoliths seams to be the amp, the internet says they will work with a STAX amp or adaptor so I can always grab a used STAX amp off of eBay.

Sold off one of my DAV bg2’s and bought a Bae dual 312a. I was gonna go Capi, but I have 2 rack spaces and I wasn’t feeling the 500 series options. I hear good things about the Bae and the power supply will power another pair when I’m ready. Excited to use these on drums.

Not really new but I had bought what I thought was 1962 p bass about 20 years ago, then it was stolen recently then recovered but had some issues when I received it back . Sent it to my local luthier and he calls telling me it’s not a 62 but a 1960 lol better yet ! Just bought a Motu 8a from stratboy on RGO.

First two SOLO8 modules finally arrived. Been a bit of an odd roller coaster with this company, still hoping it'll work out. Waiting on 2 more units and the software to actually use them..

Launcher! So I record more vocals at home with dynamics and/or use less compression those "punchier" microphones. It's likely I'll upgrade my 58, with the TAB Funkenwerk transformer eventually too... Chris

Added an SSL Fusion (and an Audioscape Buss compressor on the insert) to my master bus. Total game changer! Now I’m just trying to choose between the Charter Oak PEQ1 and Drawmer 1974 to add as a master EQ...

I got a terrible guitar and then mailed it back the same day. Oh well. Enjoying my new plugins, Plugin Alliance and Arturia.
If you have the Arturia FX bundle offer for $49 I say jump on it. Not sure if that's already expired or not. There are some gems in that bundle.

KRK V6S4 to replace a few dead or dying pairs of active monitors. They’re great and very KRK 6000 like. They finally have a real Kevlar replacement for the unobtanium Focal Kevlar one. They’re kind of under the radar because most of the Rokits are so bad and Gibson’s broke and managed by the three stooges. The new 5” Rokit is okay but warm. The others are unusable. The V4 is too boxy and the V8 is way too hifi with a more one note low end and upper mid dip.

I gave into my inner audiophile and on a whim made a low ball offer on a SOTA Star vacuum platter turntable that at the very least needs a new vacuum pump and it was excepted ! Oh a new project, time to hunt for a pump an arm and a cartridge!

Recently got the Soyuz Launcher. Might do the Zen Pro Tab Funkenwerk transformer upgrade, pretty soon to my 58 too. Seems on my otherwise "choirboy tone", one of them "Unidyne III's", dirties up my voice well for Punk-ish/Rockabilly/Harder Rock... As well as my main "Character Mic", the Oktava 319. Most likely 58/319 on "rockers". The 58 doesn't so as well on Ballads for me. Too aggressive (the 58 that is ). Getting a little more clarity on the 58's top end, will reduce my impulse, to hit my voice with that Sea of Saturation Plugins! Chris P.S. Hopefully this weekend, I'll be able to record with my M88-ish neodymium microphone, the AKA D790. AKG D790>Soyuz Launcher. Might make me miss my M88TG that much more though-cause I'm getting pickier over time.

I just have one question, where do I get an arm, or 2 and a pair of legs and a body that looks that normal ? If they have tone I would be take extras and do they take blue cross blue shield? If the source is anywhere near either China or Seattle, I don’t even spit up Corona!😎
