Got some Waves dirt, the free Berzerk Distortion, then the BF bundled Abbey Road Saturator and MDMX Distortion Modules for $45. Got a link to pick a free plug-in afterwards and grabbed Waves CLA-3A today. Bought a couple $9 VIs for fun, Samples From Mars 2019 Bundle and the old V-Station/Bass Station bundle to use in Komplete Kontrol & VIP as I don't run VST natively. The freebies have been pretty decent this year, Raum reverb from Native Instruments, Rev Plate-140 from Arturia, and pick a free sound pack from AAS just since my last post. Thanks for the tip! I've been deleting hundreds of promotional emails, I guess I missed those 'good ones' in the purge. Gonna test these later.

Just bought a bell brass (Cast bronze) snare drum and an Axe FX 3. I got the snare last night and spent a few hours tuning and messing with it and it's a BEAST. 25lbs. Sounds like a gunshot.

I've had an Axe-FX Ultra for several years and love it. The secret is really in tweaking the power amp settings. I'd love to move to the III especially with the current sale but have had too much other stuff going on right now.

Which brand did you get? Oh no, can't afford the tama! Those things are so rare these days that they're going for 2K$+.. I got the first edition Ahead bell brass. It has cast hoops, Trick throw-off, and it says 3mm thick but looks more like 5mm.

I bought a PDW by DW Encore drum set as a Christmas present for my 10 year and 7 year old grandsons. They can bang away when they visit, instead of sitting in front of a screen. First drum set I ever bought. So, hopefully I'll get to start from the bottom and work my way up.

Roland TD17KVX and Superior Drummer 3 Oh man. Let me know what you think of that Roland kit. And if you dig that workflow and results with SD3. A Roland kit has been on my list for some time. Came close to getting one a couple of times, but always got analysis paralysis when it came to choosing the model.

JohnKenn messed me up a year or so ago by saying that a thin pick gives a thin sound. I had for maybe 40 years been exclusively using. 60mm orange Tortex on both acoustic and electric but began experimenting with both brands and thickness and fell into the rabbit hole of exploration, trying everything under the sun. I have now settled on this 1.5mm BlueChip as the end all and my personal favorite to use on acoustic guitar. I had bought a 1mm BlueChip 40 and dug it, lived with it for around 9 months and just bought this 60 used off of a nice fellow on UMGF (The Unofficial Martin Guitar Forum). For me it helps me dial in fantastic tone on all my instruments. I needed to file, sand and polish the tip as it blunted a tiny bit from the fellow I copped it from's time with it, and I have just ordered a shiny new one as a backup from the company. These are great picks that have no drag on the strings at all. They just flow over the strings without any clack. I'm in love with my car, got a feel for my automobile. Thanks JohnKenn!!!

That must be why I suck at guitar. Wrong pick. 😂😂

People think I’m nuts for the small wooden case of blue chips. Until they try one and then go on the site and order one for themselves. Also I’ve never lost a pick since I started using blue chips about 7 or 8 years ago. I like the 35 and 45 for guitar, and have the Thile mode for mando.

Used picks? I never knew! At $35 to $75 for their super thick 2.5mm offering, some folks try them and decide they don't like them or wish to trade one in for a different shape. People usually sell the less thick for $30 so one can save a couple bucks. They can also be engraved on the back side foe an additional 5 bucks to personalize. Both mine that I bought direct are. Also, since these don't come cheap, not disposable and most likely will become valued tools, there is sone upkeep needed on them to extend their working life. When over time the tip blunts from friction running up against the strings, filing, sanding and buffing are needed to keep them going strong for years of use. The little extra time spent into making sure the bevel (I like what is called a speed beve) is still viable in relation to the tip is well worth it and a nice skill to add to the life list.

This is very appealing to me. I might pick one up.
