Got a broken JCM2000 for a couple hundy. Was my first real amp. Bought the half-stack in 2000 or 2001. What's funny, is I traded it in years ago, but I still see the exact head come and go through local shops. There's a rip in the tolex that gives it away. Kinda wish I still had it. Does the way-more-gain-than-anyone-would-ever-need-but-I'm-doing-it-anyway sound well.

Got a broken JCM2000 for a couple hundy. DSL or TSL? DSL but not badged as a DSL. It's from the early Made In England era.

The green channel with the crunch setting is pretty nice, or the red channel with lower gain sounds pretty smooth too. Still trying to find the sweet spot for the volume knob though. I find it's remarkably close to my JCM800 clone even though folks keep saying they're different animals. I'm not sure about that.

Johan Segeborn has a pretty good video of a DSL vs an 800. They are different, sure, but they are not worlds apart, really. I play modern DSL's here, I have a head and a combo. I know jcoutu1 has one also. Almost want to say they're underrated or under appreciated.

Decided to bite the bullet and get Reaper. That blank screen still looks a little intimidating to a Techophobe like me. Chris

I just ordered a Cranborne 500r8 interface for 500 modules. It's a bigger and better feature version of the Aphex 500 rack i've been using. Have to wait for the next batch but wanted to take advantage of the 15% off, free shipping and no sales tax. Frontend Audio. A review: www.soundonsound.com/reviews/cranborne-audio-500r8Winetree, have you had a chance to play with this yet? Especially interested to know how you think the conversion stacks up? Cheers, Geoff

DIYRE L2P passive line attenuator. Still need to build it, but I'm looking forward to the option of putting my otherwise unused preamps to work when I'm mixing.

I've wanted a nice Eliot capo and finally got one, the 16" inch radius version to work with my Martin's and Roy Noble.

I got this brand new Martin D-28 Standard. It's my first "good" acoustic guitar I've ever owned and first USA acoustic guitar. Yes, a dream guitar. I feel lucky to finally own something like this. Now I am just as eager to pick up the D28 as I am to rock out on the electric guitar rigs, so there will be some other sounds in the songwriting.

That's awesome Guitar!! My D28 is my all time favorite overall recording acoustic. I think today's are made even better than my 1973

Because my only weird "regret" when playing this guitar is that it's a brand new guitar without 30 years of playing on it. But that's also a good thing because hopefully one day it will be as much loved as my 1997 American Strat is now. The neck is really comfortable and the sound is there. I just get seasonal mood stuff but the reaction has mostly been ecstatic. This fills a big hole in my personal collection. I was previously playing an Epiphone Hummingbird that the headstock has snapped off of three times, if that tells you anything. Now my silly fantasies can move onto finding some esoteric microphones to record this D28. Instead of the microphone being more expensive than the guitar!

Yeah, my D28 is a '71, it sounds great but I do admire the new ones too! Also, there was this early oughts Gibson Jumbo that got away from me, that was a killer recording guitar, despite the conventional wisdom that Jumbos are just for strummin'.

I have a pair of LA500a's, and although Opto in character, they just cannot spank like a real 3a.
now...on to "gear" purchased.... I don't really like to list software as "gear", but I'm pretty excited about 2 new pieces I picked up on BF sales :
The Pulsar Echorec
and...
Overloud's TH-U. That thing has instantly transformed a couple of lackluster real amp'd tracks in a current project. I was going to either re-amp them or run them thru the Iridium, but the Overloud got me there instantly without having to stand up and plug things in....and we all know how lazy we get.... Great purchase at over 50% off. I got the Full TH-U along with Vintage 1, Vintage 1, American and British pack's due to raving on this forum. Just a couple dollars over $200. Money well spent.

I just bought a Chandler Curve Bender. Definitely a huge chunk of change so I snagged it used in case the purchase wasn’t feeling justified.
So far I’m digging it. I have a TG Channel, a germ comp and a Redd mic, so I’m not new to chandler. But I admit that it’s much cleaner than people on forums seem to suggest. It’s also more subtle than people seem to describe.
Currently I only have one other stereo pair of eqs (RND 551s) so I’m expecting to find plenty of use for the CB both tracking, mixing and mastering.
One slight bummer is that the high pass filter’s lowest setting is 20hz with a very gentle slope which actually starts up around 65hz (checked this with Q clone). That makes it mostly unusual even for mastering purposes. Would have been nice to have a much lower setting.
Anyone else on here using and enjoying this stellar tool?
