Got an original Power Boost from Macari’s in London. It’s huge and it’s expensive, but it’s rock and roll and I like it!

Picked up an Audioscape Opto compressor few weeks back, then saw Geoff's post on the V comp so now have that inbound. This is not helping me conserve my retirement funds🤑 Dude, my buddy (who fortunately for me let's me borrow his stuff all the time) just got the V-comp, opto-comp and the D-comp in the last month. Can't wait to try them. I'm saving for the D-Comp myself. They are all absolutely DIVINE audioscape rocks

Look what just arrived in the mail... It's a Gates SA-134 tube preamp. From the same family as the SA-70, that Coil Audio is doing. I'm looking forward to picking EMRR's brain about it! hahaa Also picked up some Kush Electra EQs. Hoping these will be good workhorse EQs

After over a year of eyeballing it, I finally got a Dangerous Audio Compressor. So far, I really like it! It does transparent compression very well, but it also can get squishy and be an interesting character compressor of you set it up right (or maybe wrong).

Got a free Trueverb license e-mail from Soundsnap, went to register it and found I had to contend with the Waves V11 release I had been ignoring. I'm on PT12 which Waves ended support for with V10, yet all my Waves licenses are from last year, so eligible to bump to V11. Downloaded the legacy V10 installer, all 5.6GB of it, uninstalled the new V11 version and installed Trueverb V10, which ran fine from the V11 license. Updated all my other V10 licenses to V11 and didn't have to re-install anything else. Listening to Trueverb against Abbey Road Plates and Chambers, the only thing I got out of this deal was the incentive to figure out how to keep my licenses up to date without screwing up my legacy install, which I'm thankful for!

Daking mic pre/eq. I don't know why it took so damn long, but I've had one channel for years and have always wanted a pair for the EQ on guitars... finally do.

I just got five AT U851/O half omni boundary mics. Ten dollars a pop on ebay. Seller name is livinggreenseattle if anyone else wants some.
They look almost un-used for the most part, and are built extremely well. Much heavier build than my Beyerdynamic MPC67.
The Beyers are directional and sound a little better. The AT's have this sort of super bright top end on them, so I haven't tested them on music yet, but they are definitely crispy. What I am hoping is that they sound OK as room mics, distance mics. The Beyers will be the close mics. The AT are made in Japan but they have what you want to call a chinese sounding high end. They are just really bright. Other than that they are quiet and sound pretty good.
I use these with my Sound Devices MixPre 6 for low profile, quick, easy recording. I guess I am pretty much covered on boundary mics now since I have 9. I would like a couple more MPC67 though. Those ones seem kind of special to me. Made In Germany. Slightly more plasticky build quality, but OK. Good quality when you open them up. They make great mics in front of amps so far, which is the only recording I've officially done with this rig. besides a lot of test recordings and demos.
