I've been deep in Fuzz Face and Tonebender land. Tweaking out some of my favorite circuits. This is DIY stuff but it sort of counts as "new gear" in the sense that I built them for myself.
Going way down the rabbit hole with this stuff. I love it when it becomes an obsession.
Also have a new thing for "micro" pedals built in 1590A enclosures since you can fit so many of them on a small pedalboard. Been doing a few of those.

I'm currently sitting at 95 total pedals. 27 are "officially" categorized as fuzz on my list. Some of them are very, very good.

Speaking of fuzz. I picked up one of those old maestro rhythms and sounds that comes with fuzz, wah, and a crazy tremolo. Version G-2.
Had to go back though because the wah was broken on it and it wasn’t in the best shape to try and repair. Oh well.
But love those old maestros! The best for my tastes. So gnarly sounding.

Just picked up the Elevate Bundle from Eventide, it's on sale for $99 but I had two free licenses for EQuivocate so the upgrade cost was $39. Back to the Eventide trough again, Physion for $42 at AudioDeluxe, keep chipping away at that Anthology XI upgrade price, down to $299...

I know this is the "latest gear you've acquired" thread, but hoping since a couple of tons of stone recently qualified ( ) that I can sneak in "gear recently rediscovered". Pulled my Soundcraft Spirit M4 out of the travel case after not using it for several years. (Became too much to haul for live solo gigs.) For the fun of it I threw it on my desk and started experimenting with my LDC mics and outboard pres, verb, and compressors. I know this level of Soundcraft is not a true console, but it is giving me some new, nice sounds and flexibility. Didn't expect the pres on the board to sound stellar, but surprisingly they sound great and are actually taking a bit of the unwanted edge off my vocal on my ADK Z-251 without losing clarity. In addition, I'm finding that running my 500 series comps and pres on the inserts leverages the sonics of those units while keeping things smooth. Don't know why I didn't try this sooner, and am looking forward to exploring more routing options and use during mixdown. All that being said, it certainly feels like this is gear I've recently acquired. And, now I can shoot out up to four mics in one take.

@toddj I think there is definitely a good place for small mixers in a small studio. I don't know if they are overlooked or not, it's hard to tell. But I find them to be incredibly useful. Even the cheaper stuff, yes, the low to medium priced stuff.

After a year and a half the Stam 1073s finally came in. Along with the Successor, they will be going in separate rack to perform some 2 track duties. Also picked up a pair of Kali LP-6s monitors.

Did they include a Purple Heart, for the wait? (only kidding Joshua) I bet they'll sound great. Chris

Also, you should post a thread on your studio renovations in the Studio Build sub-forum!!

Well a Zod arrived from the purple site and it sounds great, lower output then I was expecting but still pretty killer. Can't wait to play around with it for bass tracks and pumping it into or after a vp28 to see how that sounds!

Another bass! Built in mute is pretty awesome. Just needs a decent set up and maybe some flat wounds OMG I love that bass!

Metric Halo offered 50% off hardware to early 3D adopters, so I bought an LIO. On the truck for delivery today! I will soon be selling gear to payoff the LIO and replenish my Coil CA-70 fund.
After redoing my patchy and racks, I will no longer be Analog I/O starved. It's good to be King.

Although that’s an easy change. This is actually a “Ventura” which was a 70’s import brand from Japan. It actually sounds pretty good I think I’m going to put tapewounds on it for that muted, pick bass sound.

On the way, CAPI 500 series filtered rack with the SMPS to try out. TT to xlr M/F cables for patching in random stuff and testing the bay. 2x S&M 500 series EQ, got a good deal and I have always wanted to try them out.

Doesn't really count for much but I bought 5 more pairs of closed back Monoprice cans and another presonus headphone amp. Cheap stuff, but meh, it's the stuff that's always getting broken anyhow.
Musicians tend to toss cans on the floor when they're not using them . . . myself included. So, they don't last very long

Well, I had the Art Pro MPA II Digital preamp in here for about 2 days. I was looking for a two channel S/PDIF preamp to give myself 2 extra channels on my Apollo set up. I had owned the DBX386, but I was never really fond of the sound it gave me. So I figured I'd try the MPA II. Sonically it wasn't too bad. It wasn't close to the same league as my Demeter VTMP-2B, but for use with my pair of AT3525s when needed I thought it wouldn't be a bad choice. Unfortunately the phantom power on Channel 2 didn't work. It kind of only partially powered the mics up. Luckily the guy on Reverb was cool about it. That's the nice part about buying from small music shops on Reverb. I simply sent a clip with some audio, confirmed the tubes were in place, etc. I could get it repaired, but I got a great deal on it and the repair probably would have cost about what I paid for it. So back it goes. Maybe I'll just hold off and grab an ADAT 4 Channel like the Focusrite 428 or UA 4-710 instead.

Ironically, the humble Aphex 107 is preferred by some... Over the later models. It's rather a sleeper-very smooth.
I have a Studio Projects VTB-1 now, which is comparable sonically when left in solid state mode.
Both units are a couple of notches better, than the otherwise acceptable Onyx pre's BTW. Chris

Got a decent price on these, so I tested out and decided to keep both a RNDI-S direct box and a TC Electronic TC1210-DT Desktop-controlled Plug-in based on the hardware. Having owned everything from the Eventide H-3000 SE in the old days to multiple plugs in that vein these days, I'm a sucker for the variety of flavors that do spatial and doubling.
