RCA 77DX, AEA KU5A and my RCA 74B comes back from repair this week. Ribbonania! Do I sense an all ribbon album, in the making? Maybe songs like "Ribbon of Darkness", along with the funky "Tie A Yellow Ribbon"? Chris Ha! Maybe! But not really. The 77 came from a respected studio with a known history and is really clean as well as a great sounding example, at a price I couldn't pass up as it is a mic I have always wanted. The KU5A was one of those Reverb listings where a studio bought it, didn't like it (I guess, I think it sounds great) and wanted to dump it fast at a discount and there it was in my feed, super cheap. Basically new in my book. I'm a terrible bottom feeder. Someone has to keep the catfish in line. And the 74B has been at AEA for a 7 weeks or so. The ribbons on those are really easy to blow out. I've done it so many times, I think Jessica feels sorry for me and gives me the "Pathetic Dude From Ohio" discount. Not the greatest ribbon, but a fine example of the 74b and useful when you want something to really honk. Now it's time to thin some other gear.

YOu sure you do not need a RCA PB90?

YOu sure you do not need a RCA PB90? I'm sure I don't need it, I'm also sure I'd love to have it. Bottom line is I got a few large ribbon mics (AEA, Stager) and not really in the market for another one, especially since I just blew my savings for a new Coil CA70 on the 77. Now if those were Aussie dollars, I'd say excuse me catfishes, I'm hungry.

Just picked up the Elevate Bundle from Eventide, it's on sale for $99 but I had two free licenses for EQuivocate so the upgrade cost was $39.

I don't post in this thread much if ever, but I want to run and tell about this. The Kemper Stage, which I just got. It's the Kemper Profiler merged with the floorboard, in one unit. I'm a fan of Kemper for a long time, and this sounds great. Reminding, the Kemper is not a modeler, it's a synth that listens, while profiling an amp, to all the non-linearities/intermodulations between the guitar input and the amp/speaker/mic/pre and learns what that is, then lets you "play" what it profiled with any guitar afterward.

They nailed the aesthetics on that one... looks really freakin' cool. A lot of big guitar floor board things look terrible, so that's an accomplishment on its own.

I saw these in the NAMM coverage and wondered how much it differs from the head models. Will you be using effects through the Kemper? Or do you still use your normal effects pedals/rack units? I've heard some really differing accounts of if effects sound good through Kempers, but I know St. Vincent uses them and she certainly uses effects in her sound. I've also been looking at the Boss Tube Amp Expander. Either one of these could help a small space studio be able to deal with more tracking situations.

I just traded in my Prius for a RAV4 because I needed more room for gear. So far I'm a bit disappointed - the guy whop handles my money talked me out of getting the hybrid version (new this year) in favor of the lest expensive gas only version. With only a dew days experience I'm thinking it was a mistake. I could live with the lack of power, but according to the vehicle's own readouts the gas economy in town is nowhere remotely close to the advertised figures, which means that if this continues I'll loose everything I saved by getting the gasser in fuel expenses.
We shall see.

Insane deal. $400 for the trio. Wow! At that price you can afford to put real T-Bird pickups in the Thunderbird instead of those EPI EMTs. Lollar makes a really nice repro of the original pickup.

Just from the factory load of rigs, you can cover any genre of music and guitar sounds. The Kemper distortion, mod, delay and reverb effects cover the usual bases. There’s a killer Leslie speaker too. I like using analog drive pedals and you can. When the input LED flashes red, you still have 20dB of headroom before clipping. I don’t know if I’ll give up my Alesis Quadraverb, but I can integrate it if I have to. It would just take a few days of full stage rehearsal to set it all up for live. It would be a real convenience, especially in festival situations where acts need to get on and off stage quickly. I do plan on recording with Kemper this fall. You also can now use impulse response speaker cabs from Celestion and others. There’s software to convert them to a format Kemper can use.

It's here. Now I have a pair of FleA 49s. Both have F47 capsules (FleA's K47/49). I'm looking forward to tracking duets with Emily simultaneously. I can't tell you how much time that saves us.

I picked up a Yamaha SPX-2000 for no good reason....other than it’s cheap.
Now I have a Rev 5, SPX-90 II, SPX-990 and it. The dreams of the 80’s are alive
