I love wooden walls. Thanks man! I got that Strat from a luthier friend. He built it out of spare parts set it up for slide - the strings are about 3/8" off the neck. LOL There's all kinds of routed and carved stuff in that guitar - front and back. It was kind of an art / guitar project for him. He sold it to me ridiculously cheap, but the instant I heard it I knew I wanted it. Really bluesy and way ballsier than most strats. BTW, it's got a raven carved into it if you look closely. Check it out! It's a wild guitar. Always gets comments. The blonde Tele is mid-60's and used to belong to Lowell George of Little Feat before he passed away. Got it from one of his roadies.... The silver one is just a cheap tele.... Those walls really showcase the guitars. LOVE it!!

I bet it has a fat bluesy tone. That raven thing is icing on the cake. Those inlays are over the top, only something a luthier could do. I love stuff like that, that you can't really buy at a big store.

I had the Pre Box several months back, ended up selling it for a Topping DX7S which I like much better. I'm curious about the DAC Box S2+ I wonder if it has the same or similar conversion. For only $250 it might be worth a shot.

OK we're talking about different things. I had the Pre Box several months back, ended up selling it for a Topping DX7S which I like much better. I'm curious about the DAC Box S2+ I wonder if it has the same or similar conversion. For only $250 it might be worth a shot. Haven't heard much on the Topping. What do you like better about it? It's more of a neutral/midrange sound to me. The ProJect kind of had this wide shiny thing going on and it seemed weak in the bottom, not a firm bass to my ears. It was pretty spectacular though in terms of imaging and depth. This is all super personal subjective stuff. Jim Williams tried both also and he hated the Topping and loves the ProJect. So there you go. We have opposite opinions on these two. I think I want to try a Topping D50 for my smaller/unbalanced rig. Since I get along so well with the DX7S. I don't hardly think about conversion or monitors any more, which is a huge stress saver.

I found someone who was incredibly generous and sold me about $3000 worth of cabling and patch-bays for $200, so I’m wiring up my home rig. Ordered the remaining connectors I’ll need from Redco and Have, INC (first time using them but they have the best prices online). So, after soldering 42 3 Pin EDACs, a few DSUBs and 32 XLRs I’ll have all 192 points wired and hooked up.
I also bought yet another Oktava MK-012-01 off eBay because I need another pad and clip and it was about the same price 🙄

Got the Coils today. Very happy. Very thick, chunky and huge. Almost scared to put them on kick..... But on a personal level, I'm even happier with something I've wanted to do for years. With the help of a buddy last weekend, I filled a couple of alcoves in the entryway wall of the studio with barnwood and then hung up some of my guitars. A tele wall and a strat wall. Woohooooo!!!!! Very cheap. Found all the wood myself. Fun, and really cool IMO. Been using my Coil a bunch lately. Love it.

I've got a pair of the 70S, and man....takes a bit of getting used to to get the max out of it. It's certainly the most unique mic pre that I can remember ever having.

I got a little 3D printed knob from LOM in Slovakia, for my MixPre 6. It makes the knob bigger and easier to handle, not so fiddly any longer. It's the main knob that controls everything just about.
I know it's not a big extravagant purchase but it's cool because of what it is. A cheap way to make the MixPre even better.
Also I am about to build 4 more vintage Triad equipped "Motown direct boxes." Two to keep in my arsenal and two I'm going to try to sell. The parts have been coming in. Kind of excited about that too, I absolutely adore these things.

There is no going back for me. I have been getting some serious results with these DI's. To the point where I only record my fancy tube amps "sometimes." I've never owned an RNDI but compared to something like a Radial JDI it's a different world.

Just bought Waves Abbey Road Collection at AudioDeluxe for $140.
Was curious about using Akai VIP 3.1 for hosting soft synths/FX patches for awhile and decided to grab it for $30 at Pluginboutique to get the iZotope Iris 2 license freebie with it. It took a bit of research to get VIP working correctly and I found the only Waves plug-ins mapped for control was the Abbey Roads stuff. I owned the Plates already, got curious about the rest of the bundle on sale and when I found you could stack discounts at AudioDeluxe impulse control left me completely...

Heritage Audio Successor. Ok... It just came in the mail today. A few mins ago, I downloaded a 10-15 second clip of a drum pattern from the purple site (page 4 of the Successor announcement thread). I've been playing with this on multiple settings to get "the feel." So far... I've had it up and running for maybe 15 mins, and I've never had so much fun with a stereo bus comp. REALLY has a lot of character. Something totally unique to me. I'm not talking about the 1073 output amplifier... Talking about the way it feels kind of "sticky" and "playful" in its compression. Hard to explain, because... I've never owned a comp that behaves exactly this way. (I have no direct experience with vintage diode bridge comps like the 33609 or 2254). My other available stereo paired comps: » Rupert Neve 535 x2 (these are also diode bridge based, but totally different sound) » Chandler TG Opto 500 x2 (optical) » IGS Audio Tubecore 3U ME (Vari Mu) » TK Audio BC2-ME (VCA) Loving the Heritage Audio Successor. DEFINITELY a unique comp in the midst of the other 4 stereo-paired comps I already owned. They're all different, and I visualize them fitting sounds together like a jigsaw puzzle. Chad PS: I'll also find places to use this on mono sources during tracking/mixing. It's just too good to only use on a bus. I really want one of these. Can you confirm the controls for me in that they are all stepped? I keep reading different things. Curious about the recall on it.

Can you confirm the controls for me in that they are all stepped? I keep reading different things. Curious about the recall on it. Blackdawg , Great question. Simple Answer... Controls: (Left to right) » THRESHOLD = What I would call "grooved" steps. Very gently turning, I can absolutely count every single step. » RATIO / ATTACK / RELEASE / FILTER / GAIN MAKEUP = Switched or "Hard-Stepped". » BLEND = This is EXACTLY like threshold. There is no reason whatsoever I could not recall a specific setting. For "Threshold" and for "Blend" I would just have to be patient and count the steps as I gently turn the knob. After that (once counted and written down), I could repeat it every day of the week. Chad
