Nice! We have one of those and a MixPre10. Was disappointed you can't Create a Report with the mixpre6 like you can the 10. Thats a very useful feature when doing video stuff. We just swap the SD card into the 10 from the 6 to make a report haha The new micpres in them are great though, much better than the 702/722/744 preamps. Better conversion too. Really like them. Cool! This is all brand new to me. I would have got the 10T if not for....money. But I think the 6 will for the most part do what I need to do. I might have to use some more minimal drum mic setups for doing band stuff though, that is the main compromise. This is all about a minimal rig anyway so I am just going to "go with it." Maybe in a few years I'll upgrade to an 8-10 input recorder. I just did a voice test and an acoustic guitar test and they both sounded very good. That's all I've had time for so far. Just learning the controls and interface.

Just learning the controls and interface. Yeah it's a great little recorder. I use a 20,000mah USB C battery to power ours. Lasts for hours. Has to be a USB c though FYI. Or get the power sled a a real battery setup which would carry over to other recorders and power other gear. We use a power block with the 10T but it costs hundreds of dollars vs like 70. Does power all our wireless and the recorder at once though.. Still they are nice units. You can do a lot with them. The channel linking is great, does built in MS decoding which is handy and there is a free plugin for binural using the rode mic or Sennheiser ambeo.

I've got an Anker PowerCore+ USBC 26800mAh power supply/battery here, that arrived a few hours before the MixPre. It works great! I think I am going to look at battery clips though just as an alternate (smaller) option as well as redundant power. The ones I want (sony) are going to cost a bit though. Haven't really dug into the advanced features yet but that's good to hear about. This is a new world to me.

This is the thing to get: www.cabletechniques.com/product-page/mx-powersled-external-dc-power-adaptor-for-sound-devices-mixpre-3-6Actually has come down in price $50 so that is nice. Then get something like this. www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/816002-REG/Remote_Audio_BDSV4U_BDSv4U_Battery_Distribution_System.htmlThen get an NP-1 battery to plug into the distribution block. Then the mixpre get power from the constant On port. Add various things as you go from there! Wireless stuff or mixers or whatever. Not cheap..but lasts forever.

That wasn't a Native Instruments product before, correct? The maker is Project Sam, but it’s always required Kontakt to use it. As far as I know anyway.

That free player never seems to work well when I've tried it. I’m using the free player. My understanding is it works better with the full Kontact player, but I haven’t needed to grab it yet. I only have a few other Kontakt libraries, Pro Session Horns, The Orchestra, and their free stuff, which has a great upright bass and jazz guitar I actually use a lot. Most of the VIs I own are east west and use Play.

The AS76 is even faster than my other clone, the Pre Replicas 1176 Rev AB bluey (which is gobsmackingly identical to the original) So playing with the attac and release, whemn you're at A6 and R5 it slows down the attack to the OG spec. And subtract from there. Anyone else find the same thing? Ratio 12:1, of course. 10 and 2 oclock, of course.

Sound Devices MixPre 6! I've been planning / saving for this one for several months now. Will accompany my new Panasonic GH4 camera rig. Think I'm going to do a music video in the next week or so. Pictured on top of Clarett 4Pre to give an idea how small this is. that’s going to be a really good rig, man. You can get some nice footage with the GH4.

I'm also interested in this, www.sounddevices.com/product/mixpre-6/ Guitar How easy is it to port the audio out into a Mac with Pro Tools? I understand they are heavily invested in Windows tech . .. but audio is audio. Can the unit be put in disk mode and plugged into a USB3 slot and have files DL'ed (or offloaded, the better way to put it) ?

Yes, it's super easy to transfer files to a computer, or a DAW. MixPre records poly .wav files where all the channels are consolidated into a single wav file. Cubase will automatically split them out when dropped into a project. They also have a free application called Wave Agent Beta that can split files and do a number of other functions. It's as simple as tapping a few screens on the MixPre to get to the File Transfer mode

We use it as the interface for a protools machine too. The musican version doesn't do poly wav fyi. I much prefer poly wavs. But if you want to over dub with the mixpre directly then the musician one is better. I usually just extract the SD card personally
