So there’s been a whole giant mess with Aurchitect Audio software, which used to be Audiofile Engineering. I don’t even want to go into it. It’s just a big fucking mess. Anyway, my copy of Sprectre (which was their excellent extensive metering suite) stopped working b/c the company has gone under.
So yesterday, I found a new license for Metric Halo’s classic Spectrafoo Complete for $19, so I bought it to replace Spectre. It’s good. Easier to use than Spectre, actually. Just not as many different meters.

I just got a Serpent Splice 500 series today.... and am digging it.
Definitely more low end and smoother between 2-5k than my WA-76. Seems to tame sibilance better than other 76 clones I've used.
I'm also digging the 2:1 ratio and the blend knob. This is a keeper.
There'll be a WA-76 on Reverb shortly

(D-A-DD) Yea the other one is tuned down to a G and is mahogany instead of spruce. For some reason they thought it was a good idea to put numbers all over the fretboard on this model - WTF You can see it here:
www.sweetwater.com/store/detail/MerlinMSGG--seagull-guitars-m4-merlin-mountain-dulcimer-g-tuning-mahoganyI saw some guy on youtube who had crafted some tiny frets to go halfway between frets on one of the whole step intervals - on a certain string. So not all the way across the fretboard, just under a single string. He was able to create some extra 7th chords etc. I'm gonna have my guitar guy do that on one of them.

Mine is mahogany and it's tuned to D and has no numbers on the fretboard. I think I may have to check out the G tuned one though...

Continuing to collect Eventide plug-ins, I picked up MangledVerb and UltraTap on Audiodeluxe's 4th of July sale for $27 each. Went to JRR shop to get a 2nd free MH Dirty Delay license and picked up IK's AmpliTube Fender Collection 2 for $21 as well. Bought a license for AIR's Boom VI for $7 at Pluginboutique and got a free license for sonible's proximity:EQ+.

Don't know if this counts as "gear" or not, but I just finished upgrading and setting up my J45. Installed white button Kluson tuners, crafted a bone nut (from blank), installed a Bob Colosi bone saddle, installed bone bridge pins, and performed a complete set-up. I dialed in the action on this thing super sweet using precision measuring tools and calipers. My workshop is pretty sweet (and messy at the moment). It's closer to a J45 True Vintage now, aside from the difference in wood. Can't seem to put it down.

Don't know if this counts as "gear" or not,... I'd say it counts more than a plugin download

Sound Devices MixPre 6! I've been planning / saving for this one for several months now. Will accompany my new Panasonic GH4 camera rig. Think I'm going to do a music video in the next week or so. Pictured on top of Clarett 4Pre to give an idea how small this is.

Nice! We have one of those and a MixPre10. Was disappointed you can't Create a Report with the mixpre6 like you can the 10. Thats a very useful feature when doing video stuff. We just swap the SD card into the 10 from the 6 to make a report haha
The new micpres in them are great though, much better than the 702/722/744 preamps. Better conversion too. Really like them.
