Quickly, get an NOS tube. Preferably a Telefunken 806S. Although some folks think the 806s (small s) sounds better. 1960 seems to be the golden year for this electron bottle. I might, but I see nothing wrong (and everything right!) with the mic as-is! I’ll report tomorrow. The stock bottle is it's only slight weakness. Did you hear my comparison files in the Neumann 67 reissue thread?

I hear the Max Kircher mod is the bomb!! It’s overly dark. Some like it for that, but it’s a bit darker than a real U67. It's Max's transformer that causes the top to roll off like that. Some guys like that, though. I prefer the more open top end that you get with a different transformer. And tubes make such a big difference in this mic.

Couldn't resist...
grabbed the Plugin Alliance Dangerous BAX EQ today for $29 (still available, today, flash sale, 1 day only)
I don't think I owned any baxandall EQs so it fills that gap for me.
It has a really good high pass filter. I've only just tried it a bit but it's super smooth in boosting highs or lows.

Been dying to pick up a main tube vocal mic for sometime now. Couldn’t resist the semi-reasonable open box price on this one. Manley Silver in all its glory...

Haven't added much lately just a few Samsung SSD's but I did grab the PA BAX EQ for 29.00 also. Plus these guys showed up today! Soyuz SU-013 pair in black. Attachments:

$20 worth of replacement knobs for 2 of my Dr Z amps. And about. $200 of guitar parts. Odds and ends. No great finds or treasures.

Just pulled the trigger on one of these Hawaiian Pizza Fuzz pedals from the the boys down in Carolina. I was torn between a fuzz factory and your typical big muff ( agh so many circuits/ versions who knew) but this one should really help with the indie/pysch solo's going into a fulldrive 3 giving me some extra BEEF and give me that noisey whackyness should I need it on occasion....

A Tegeler VTRC - amazing thing, a Fuel tank Junior (before T-Rex went bust) and a Rycote Shockmount

I couldn’t sleep last night and low balled a bunch of pedals on Reverb and actually won a couple...Mazzette Lowerdrive (bought it because it looks like it’s enclosed in a rock), Blackout Effectors Mantra, and a Hao Sole Pressure (great name)
We’ll see how they sound, because I have no idea

Sounds great...just don't know if I could buy because of the corny name lol.

I’ve had a good haul this past week.
Mid 70s silverface twin w/ JBL e120’s recently recapped and retubed. I really like the way these speakers sound.
DBX 163A. Got this practically for free - this is an American made version- and the inside is super well made. Some discontinued THAT chips that some boutique guys still use. I feel like it’s only really useful for smashing rooms and such - but it’s insanely snappy and whisper quiet.
Lindel EVO - 6. Just scooped a pair of these today for a crazy low price. There are practically 0 reviews for these guys - but so far they sound really sweet and smooth. Apparently they have hand wound input/output transformers and an inductor eq. Bought them on a whim because the meters looked cool - and so far I’ve been really impressed. Not sure how useful the eq will be as it’s low and high boost only - but definitely plan on using them in upcoming sessions.
Edit: and then of course the Stam 76ADG - which I couldn’t be more happy with.

Got a nice deal on a Paiste Masters Dark Crisp 22” Ride. I really dig it, nice balance of stick and wash. Honestly what I’ve been looking for out of a ride.
Also bought another cheap fuzz pedal off Reverb...a built BYOC Scrambled Octave, which is an Ampeg Scrambler clone.

Forgot to mention, I also picked up a 1978 Fender Super Twin with the beautiful built-in distortion effect (uh... yuck, says everyone) but it was a great deal and 180wartts RMS of instantaneous deafness when you need it.
Plus the Magic Trackpad 2, from the MM2 discussion . . . and a second Vox Valve-Tone Overdrive Pedal V810 Valvetone (best damned mild overdrive, ever, to my ears)

I've had a number of 12 string acoustics over the past 30 years - Gibson, Taylor, Guild - and didn't like a single one. I've also had a love affair with a 1970 Martin D35 that I've battered to hell and back, several times. Once dropped a Rhodes Stage 88 on it. KaBang! Glue works. About 20 years ago I had Martin D18s - 12 fret canon that I wish I'd never sold. Put it all together, and you come up with this sad nicotine baby 1970 D12-35 that came to me set up for 6 string, which sounded really good sooo....had my guy recut a bridge and nut and got some Stew Mac "Golden Age" tuners that fit perfect and it is the best damn 12 string I've had the pleasure of strumming. Smells a bit, um, stale, but small sacrifices. In a year or two I'll have ti refinned like that sweet lil' 00 on the right. Patience favors the willing. On the left.

That's a D35-12? The body shape seems different to all the other Martin dreadnoughts I own or am familiar with.

That's a D35-12? The body shape seems different to all the other Martin dreadnoughts I own or am familiar with. The 12 fret models - D18s, D28s, D35s and the corresponding 12 fret 12 string models had rounded shoulders vs. the 'square' shoulders of the more familiar dreadnaught shape. The body length is an 1" longer, but the bouts were the same as the 14 fret models.

Svartbox #2 Just landed here in the studio. My Lynx Hilo, which I love, started acting up and so I pulled my original Svartbox out of my mobile rig and put it in the studio on my master buss inserts. This is the first time I’ve had them back to back where I could AB them. Well, I’ll be... The Svartbox has a slightly better stereo image than the Hilo. Sounds virtually identical to the Hilo but a bit wider and slightly more open. So Svartbox#1 is gonna stay on my master buss inserts and #2 is gonna either replace the Hilo DA for monitoring or will go back into the mobile rig. I’ve previously praised this box by svart - but this recent test reconfirms what a great ADDA this is
