I like the look and sounds ive heard of the 76A. Price is great too. I still really want to try a Splice from Serpent though. That seems like the ultimate 1176. Is pricey though. For what it’s worth I’ve owned a purple, warm, stam & Audio-Scape. I currently own a Serpent & it stands out from the crowd to me. I've read great things about it.

I got a 545SD Shure Unidyne III, not an old one but a brand new one. It's beautiful I haven't had a chance to plug it in yet due to wedding insanity (not me, I'm still single as a pringle) The Behringer Model D is working out great, really nice synth. For the price, I just need to break down and get one of those Model Ds. I've heard a lot of good things about them and they actually seem to sound pretty nice. Same here, gonna most likely break down. For 300 or so bills it will be nice to directly twiddle those knobs. I have the Synapse Audio Legend which sounds good, but with the hardware it is all there in front of you and is so much more creatively accessible...if that's a thing.

I have an Audioscape Opto on the way. Hoping it will replace my Universal Audio LA-2A. I also traded some stuff for a Distressor. Man, those things just works for kick and snare. Let us know how that works out. I really want to know about that LA-2A thing.

Gibson Nighthawk ST3 1995. Serial # 90465551 meaning she was stamped on the 15th day of February 1995. Almost 24 years old, and by far the most versatile guitar I've ever played. All Les Paul, Tele and Strat sounds in one guitar. Bloody amazing. Like a PRS? This guitar has been on my hit list for a loooooooong time, they are a very rare find in great condition, that is what held me off.

This one isn't without it's minor blemishes and I need to strip off all hardware at some point and do minor finish repairs then buff it up to a nice shine again. But overall, decent shape. They're running about $1700 used now. So if you find the 3-pup for 1100 or less, grab it! Red is the rarest finish but I prefer the sunburst anyhow. I'm still satisfied with it in red.

My LA2A usually sounds good or ok on a vocal but it can get a little hairy or fuzzy sounding sometimes. I’ve tried different tubes (including spending quiet a bit of money with Bowie on vintage ones) and I just never loved it. Popped the Opto on a vocal and it just worked. I will say it doesn’t really add a “sound” to the source like say my Highland BG-2 does, so sonicly it reminds me more of a Tube Tech

The last two I found didn’t have a straight neck, and required too much work to be worth what they were asking...my search will continue.

The MXL Revelations I ordered on Saturday arrived today, two days before the tracking session I wanted them for. These sure look different than MXLs I've used in the past, nice build, solid switches on the bodies and supplies. They came with a set of white linen gloves with the MXL logo on them and a micro-fiber cloth, like the Stanley Cup... Quick sound test revealed the audio dipped out while dialing the continuous pattern selector, once it was warmed up it stayed on. Strange, never had continuously variable pattern so can't say if that's unusual... They were built 1.31.19 so rumors of them being discontinued appear to be unsubstantiated, nice Mogami Neglex cables included for $350 each... I'll see how they fair in tracking Friday.

That’s my limit for the studio I do my tracking...out of patch points and don’t want to wire up another bay! But I have 5 partially filled racks in my basement! Although I don’t have a minivan anymore part of me wants to track down some cheap road cases so I can carry stuff to sessions easily. But, that also sounds backbreaking

The secret my friend is well built small cases using some kind of self imposed standard and lots of patch points and adaptors.

I also bought this, hasn't arrived yet. It's a Bock Custom Shop 49 with a AC701 tube. I got a good deal on Reverb. No idea if it sounds better or different than the Flea 49 Next I'm selling, but I will say it looks a heck of lot more impressive.

My first new gear post - woohoo! A pair of Eve Audio 305s - same principle as Shape twins (2.5) but horizontal orientation. I liked their sound i.e. the innate tone of the speaker, and on top of that got great follow up after emailing the company with questions re suitable model for my room. The final sweetener was 600 bucks off retail promo. Initial quick mixes are nicely positive with vocal balance holding no surprises in the reference room + (my car) and others who i sent it to commented on the quality without knowing the speaker change. They were not even on my list to audition because of how I perceived them as an off shoot and possibly worse version of Adam and also how we don't mention them here. They are serious: I like . Cheers Ross
