Speaking of the excitement of empty racks, I also snagged a used Egnater M4 with the Synergy cathode bias mod, new holes to throw money into, yay!

"It certainly is blue" that about sums up the visual impression for me. "And it's got a big switch."
My Oktavas are starting to trickle in!
This is my "go to" acoustic guitar mic I guess. It's funny that I didn't have one...I was using ribbons. Sold my KM184 a couple years ago to buy this computer I'm typing on.

Just picked up UAD Ampeg Bass Collection for $25 (already had 2 of them), I like all three of these for different tasks.
Also just gnabbed SIR Standard Clip for $17. If you register for their email list they give you a coupon code, that's how I got this price.
It's a fairly simple waveshaper, like Oxford Inflator or something, but it has extra controls. Honestly I'm a bit confused by all the gain and level controls.
I haven't done an A/B with Inflator (my old standard), but I can tell you that SIR sounds IMMEDIATELY better than the clipping in the Eventide Newfangled Elevate limiter. So I'm all set on my mix bus now. Hi-fi econo style.

Loaded the Midas up last night to see if I could get it to produce noise, mission accomplished. The 48v switch on the CAPI VP312 sent it into spurious noise, looks like the DIY pres will stay in my Aphex 4-slot with the inputs fed straight from the mic panel. Compressors were all quiet even gained up stupid, I'm going to normal slots 1-8 to my Audient's 8 inserts. It certainly is blue, the build seems pretty hefty to me and it sure weighs enough. Interesting. On my dbx 560a with the gain turned up all the way it lit up the bottom three LEDs mine was so noisey. Maybe you got a good one!

I picked up an absolutely incredibly sounding Martin D-18 after scouring NW Switzerland for the last 2 months playing everything Martin, Gibson, BSG and others had to offer within touching distance of my point on the map. Finally, a friend of the main distributor of much of what is offered here went to the warehouse and picked me "the best new D-18 I have ever played", and boy, can I concur. It is alive and powerful without breaking up under duress from my plaintive pick wailing, sustains well into the morrow and is sensitive to the lightest touch while fingerpicking. It is also superbly intonated in any tuning that I throw at it. Perhaps my only niggle is that the action is a tad high that I'm used to, but of course that is easily remedied. Not a great Foto, but if there is no proof it never happened. PS I also recieved my Bluechip TD 40 and I can safely say that the hype is merited. It is far and away the best sounding and feeling pick that I have ever used. cute italian baby boy names

It is far and away the best sounding and feeling pick that I have ever used. I do like that they've increased the nut width on the new D-series guitars. I own a Blue Chip as well but I'm not as enthused as you are about how it sounds on a guitar. To my ears, they deaden everything. However, I recently discovered I like the pick on a mandolin. It subdues a lot of the shrillness. Congrats on the D-18. She looks a beaut!

Two out of four of my flattops have the wider neck and I think that I will be swapping out the thinner half of the bunch to buy a 00 or a parlor...with a 3/4 width.

The only acoustic I have left with a narrow neck is my '88 D-16. I don't see myself parting with it anytime soon because it's my favorite guitar for DADGAD tuning. It just stays in DADGAD all the time now.

Looks like my string of good luck has run out with Waves.
I bought about a dozen of really killer plugins for $30-ish give or take, thought I would try one more.
I got IR1, the convolution reverb. Unfortunately, it doesn't even sound half as good as Altiverb.
Altiverb is my love, but I just can't allow myself to spend $500-700 on a single plugin, I simply can't do it.
Maybe some of the other $50-100 options come closer? I need to start doing some hard demos.

I didn’t drink the coolaid either. That said, I also own Altiverb and it was a worthwhile investment.

I'm actually glad I bought a crap reverb... now I know what the good ones are worth and I can aim my targets more exactly. I have so much good luck with gear, that I have learned to really appreciate the crap gear moments, as rare as they are. It's a cheap learning experience.

Just cough up for an M7 and never think about a plugin again.

Just cough up for an M7 and never think about a plugin again. My M7 and my Silver Bullet are probably the last two pieces of gear I would ever sell. They both just make things sound better.

Just cough up for an M7 and never think about a plugin again. Except for Liquidsonics Seventh Heaven as a stand-in for the M7! The most important instrument will always get the real M7 in any case...

I picked up Seventh Heaven in December and it very quickly became my favorite reverb. I might even sell my Altiverb at this point.

Just cough up for an M7 and never think about a plugin again. While I do appreciate a good herd mentality from time to time, if I had thousands of dollars to "cough up" for a digital effect, I'd probably be looking at Eventide before Bricasti. Also, on a positive note regarding the Waves IR1.... I spend a couple hours designing my own room presets... Now it can comfortably blend into my tracks. It's not identical to Altiverb, but it's not as bad as it was with the stock presets. IR1 has sort of a "digital" artificial sound to it. Altiverb is more natural and realistic in terms of acoustic spaces.

Just as a reverb. Its an awesome awesome device. It is very expensive I know. But its not hype. Its real. Im blessed I realize with getting to use 3 in my studio for work. But I'll never stop recommending it. The only other thing Id ever love over the M7 is a real EMT140 haha Not that there aren't other cool unique or interesting hardware reverbs out there, because there are. Just haven't hear a plugin that can do what even some funky hardware units do.

Anyone ever try the Eventide 2016 stereo reverb? Always wanted to hear that one. I have an H3000 which I love and an old school Roland SRV2000, which for the money is a good tool to have.

Swapped a Squire VM Bass VI for a MIM Tele with a lot of upgrades and some pedals. Satisfactory trade IMO

I've never even been in the same room as one, so it's hard for me to relate. I am thinking there are some distinct obvious advantages to working for a pro facility, for example having access to gear like this that you don't find so much in home studios.
